How do you dress up a drab, illuminated monument sign? For starters, add color! We were asked to design new faces for the two-sided monument sign at the ROOTS Worship Art's Academy location in Franklin, TN. The old sign faces were “standard”—just a couple of colors on white acrylic.

The School of Worship has a great logo, and they wanted to avoid a sign design that would look like a pre-school ad.  By tying in elements of the logo as well as color schemes from the building’s new interior paint, we created new sign faces that really pop! The cool look and color usage makes it hard to miss the sign when you’re driving by, and the use of translucent materials will let the internal lights bring the colors to life at night. 

The Technical Stuff: The new sign faces were fabricated from sign-grade 3/16” translucent white acrylic and laminated digital prints created on a multi-year translucent print vinyl. We recommended flat sign faces rather than pan-formed acrylic in order to reduce cost and because of the relatively small size of the sign faces (pan faces are much more important for larger signs where wind loads require the structural stiffness that the formed shape provides).
