Cut vinyl lettering isn't just for decorating pick-up doors with "Joe's Plumbing"! The availability of a wide variety of colors and the cutting capabilities of today's vinyl plotters can be used to create attractive custom indoor business signs.
Good quality vinyl is available with both "permanent" and "removable" adhesives. Granted, the removable adhesives can become more permanent over time, but having both available helps when considering the type of surfaces to which the vinyl is applied.
For example, on a painted wall, it might be wise to use a removable adhesive to minimize the potential damage to the underlying paint when the vinyl lettering is removed.
In the store interior photo above, the client suggested a matte black vinyl that would blend nicely with the gray and black paint tones - providing a subtle message that doesn't detract from the products on display.
For a more aggressive tack on a hard and glossy surface such as the laminate counter in the picture below, a permanent adhesive works well to ensure that the vinyl lettering will withstand mild abrasion (and little hands!).
Beyond simple text, more complicated logos and patterns can be created in solid colors using vinyl lettering.
In cases where a specific color must be used for the cut vinyl accents, the vinyl can be digitally printed, laminated, and then cut. This process works well in situations such as vehicle graphics where the bulk of the graphics might be digitally printed and there is a need for lettering or other accents to match. This was the case in the catering truck wrap shown below.
