In the last couple of months, we at 12-Point SignWorks were approached by Janet Ivey of Janet's Planet to design and install a stellar (pun absolutely intended) car wrap to advertise her Emmy Award winning educational children's show! Janet has long been a Nashville personality, but lives a little ways away from us up in Hendersonville. She decided to choose 12-Point SignWorks for her new rocket because we had the best reviews on Google for Middle Tennessee wrap installers. So, thanks to Google Reviews and the people who write them!

Janet advertises for Nelson Mazda so they provided her with a new Mazda 3 SKYACTIV and paid for the majority of the wrap cost. Some of the graphics, like the Janet's Planet logo and the cartoon image of Janet were provided by Janet herself. The cartoon of Janet was actually made by cartoonists at Nickelodeon for her show. Pretty cool, huh? Rich Novia designed the other cartoon elements like the rocket, the robot, and the astronaut on the wrap. At Janet's suggestion, the super bright images for the background of space were taken from NASA's website. You can go online and use pictures from different space explorations and even from the Hubble telescope. Rich made the supernovas and nebulae even brighter in Photoshop so the colors really burst out of the design. The particular photos he chose worked really well with Janet's blue, pink, and purple color scheme.
Hot off the presses! Our Roland printer allows us to print extremely crisp, bright, high-definition images. We printed on Avery Dennison wrap vinyl and then covered the vinyl in a gloss laminate.
Rich found Janet to be a really fun and laid back person to work with. He also really appreciated how she gave him a lot of creative freedom when it came to the design of the wrap. She liked the first concept he gave her so much that there were very few revisions made after the first design proof! Both Rich and Mike Waggoner installed the design on the car. Rich's favorite part of the design is the spacey background and the way the colors came out on the printer, and Mike's favorite part of the design are the cartoony elements.

Both Rich and Mike thought it was a pretty straightforward and easy installation. It got a little tricky around the bumper (as it does with most vehicles because of the different curves and layers) but they were still able to lay the design with relative ease.
Mike and Rich putting the final panel on the bumper. Because of the various curves and crannies, this is one of the most intricate parts of any vehicle wrap.
Besides the bumper, the only other mildly tricky part was putting down the window perf. Window perf vinyl is a thin type of vinyl that has tons of tiny holes in it. This allows people to be able to see through the perf from inside the vehicle while maintaining the seamless look of the graphic from the outside of the vehicle. Because window perf is thinner than normal wrap vinyl, it's a little more delicate and difficult to work with. It's also more expensive than regular wrap vinyl, so it's important to not make any mistakes! Because the back windows were subdivided, Mike had to be careful to continue the design seamlessly and to keep the edges smooth.
Mike carefully placing and cutting the window perf. He's a pro!
After only a day and a half of installation, we had a finished product. Ta da! Janet's shiny new rocket was ready to "blast off at the speed of thought."
Here it is! This will definitely catch some attention as she's driving around Nashville.
The colors came out great and the whole design—despite having a lot going on—looks seamless.
The colors are really bright! We contrasted the words "Nelson Mazda" in bright green so they would stand out from the pinky-blue background.
Janet and her husband were really pleased with the way it turned out, and they let us snap a picture of them before they drove off in the Janet's Planet-mobile!

We really appreciate Janet for letting us put our logo on her car as an advertisement of our wrap design and installation services. It means a lot to us when we're able to put our signature on our work :)
