6 Reasons Why You Should Choose a Professionally Designed Boat Wrap

Posted on May 17, 2018 | Posted by Kris Williamson

Summer’s just around the corner! If you’re a boat owner, you’re probably preparing your watercraft for a new season of outdoor fun. But is your boat looking a little sun-bleached or faded from years of prior use? Or is it just time to give it a new look or even add advertising? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you should consider a vinyl boat wrap! Here are six reasons why a professionally designed boat wrap may be a great option for you.

1. Transform the Look of Your Boat

One of the greatest advantages of a boat wrap is the ability to completely transform your boat’s look. Whether for personal or commercial use, we can design, print and install an eye-catching, custom boat wrap that’s perfect for you.

We transformed the look of the Triton 2895 center console boat shown below into something pretty amazing! To learn more about this fun partial wrap project, read this article: Colorful Custom Boat Wrap for a Triton 2895 Center Console Boat.

2. Protect Your Boat’s Original Paint

The manufacturer’s paint job on your boat is designed to give you years of enjoyment, but as the years pass by, every boat will experience fading from the sun and signs of wear. Instead of a high-priced paint job, many boat owners are now choosing a professionally installed boat wrap. Boat wraps can prevent future sun or water damage to the existing paint, as well as protect from scratches and minor wear for many years.

3. More Cost-Effective than a Custom Paint Job

Look up boating forums online and you will discover that custom vinyl wraps are a very popular choice among boat owners. Boat wraps are more cost-effective than a professional paint job, sometimes costing ½ to ⅓ of the price. For the difference in price, you could experiment with a few different looks!

Here’s a great example of an older boat that was faded and in need of a new paint job. The owner asked our designer to create a custom American flag design. The transformation was pretty amazing! Hard to believe that’s even the same boat!

4. Greater Flexibility in Color and Design

A vinyl boat wrap can also be removed and replaced within days, without damaging the paint or body underneath. (NOTE: This is dependent upon the condition of the paint prior to the wrap installation.) There are several reasons you might want to change out a vinyl wrap before it has reached its full lifespan, including:

  • Temporary advertising
  • Sponsorships (for events like fishing tournaments)
  • Or you just want to change the boat’s look on a regular basis

5. Easy to Clean and Care For

Custom vinyl wraps are easy to care for. We recommend hand-washing boat wraps with a gentle cleaner, like liquid dishwashing detergent, mixed with water. (Don’t use harsh abrasives or solvents.) Also, avoid using pressure washers which might pull up the edges of the vinyl.

6. Easy to Repair

We recommend using bumpers to protect your boat (and vinyl wrap) when it's docked or pulled up next to other boats. However, sometimes accidents happen and vinyl can be damaged. When this occurs, the vinyl can usually be repaired. Depending on where the damage is located, we can cut out and remove the damaged vinyl and apply a patch. This is a much more cost-effective option than a paint repair.
