When a new school year begins (as it just did!), our 12-Point SignWorks printers really kick into high gear. The need for new signage escalates as planning and preparations begin for fundraising activities, athletic teams and displaying school spirit. We truly enjoy supporting our local schools in Middle Tennessee, as well as schools across the country. As you attend your PTO meetings and think of ways to support your local school, consider these signage options.
Fundraising and Sponsorship Banners
In the past, schools seemed to focus on selling special coupon books or other items in order to raise money. In recent years (at least around these parts), schools plan fundraising events where the children and their families come and participate in games and activities that require tickets. With these events, the schools raise money through ticket sales that are used to purchase everything from food to a spot in the cake walk. (You know you want to go home with some baked goods!)
Banners are the perfect option for advertising for and at these special fundraising events. With specifically placed grommets, the banners can hang from a variety of locations inside and outside of the school. Depending on the information or graphics on the design, banners can be used year after year.
As sports teams begin practice, willing parents, coaches and other team reps contact area businesses for sponsorship banners. Usually incorporated into the sponsorship package, the banners hang in prominent places at the school and during sporting events. You've seen the banners on the outfield fence at a local baseball game, right? The businesses listed on those banners generously contributed to the home team. Go Sponsors!
Ok, so the banners for your school may not be this big, but they can have the same impact! Advertise team sponsors with banners along fences or other areas with high visibility. Some schools even showcase their players! Photo courtesy of flickr.
Like fundraising banners, sponsorship banners are easy to display and can be reused (if necessary). We use a laminate with UV protection to ensure that colors on the banners will not fade as quickly and that the banner will have a mode of defense against the wind and rain. Reinforced edges also keep the banners looking their best throughout the entire season.
Helmet Decals
A team really comes together with well-designed uniforms. Helmet decals are one (sometimes forgotten) way to get a team to gel. Adding numbers and names to helmets makes each player feel more like part of the team and also helps reduce any confusion about whose helmet belongs to which person. The team name and an image of the mascot are other options that can be added onto helmets - with the school's approval!
Car Window Decals
If you don't have one already, I know you've seen a car with one on the back window. Every parent wants to support their child when it comes to an athletic team or other school group. The best way to let the world know about your child's spot on a team or their extraordinary academic excellence is with a car window decal. We prefer designing these for larger groups, if possible, but we always welcome any ideas. The decals are easy to apply and remove, and they can be customized to a variety of sizes and colors.
Golf Cart Wraps
If your school is lucky enough to have a golf cart (or many) for team sports or just school maintenance, a vinyl wrap is a perfect way to creatively show school spirit. If a full coverage wrap doesn't work with the school's budget, decals are another option that can associate the golf cart with a particular team or duty.
Recently, we completed golf cart wraps for the Vanderbilt football team's 2015-2016 season, and we currently have the Vandy baseball golf cart in our shop for an updated look!
