There's something nostalgic about a hanging business sign that conjures up images of days long ago. But a custom hanging sign, whether used in the interior or exterior of a business, is still very much a current sign design approach used in many instances.
Many times signs get attached to a wall, fixed to a post or even fastened to a monument sign. One way to make a sign stand out is to create a custom hanging sign. Whether it is a free-swinging or a fixed hanging sign, there are many different ways to customize the sign to make it unique for the business.
An example would be a double sided hanging sign we recently did for “The Long Firm,” a local attorney office in Franklin TN. The firm's concept was a wooden sign with a modern look to it.
In response to the design challenge, we combined stained redwood with brushed aluminum polymetal. The polymetal panel was cut smaller than the wood in order to create a 2” redwood border showing around the edge of the sign. We used matte black vinyl for the logo and lettering, and this was applied to the brushed polymetal. Four satin finish flush mount fixtures were used to secure the polymetal panels to the redwood after sealing underneath the top and sides of the polymetal panels with silicone. The finished sign was installed using eye screws and “S” hooks to allow the sign to swing slightly in the wind.
Do you have an idea for your own custom hanging sign? We'd like the opportunity to come up with a way to make it real! Whether you want to use wood, acrylic, metal, raised letters, cut vinyl or if you want your hanging sign inside or outside, we would love to take the time and sit down to work out the details of your one-of-a-kind custom hanging sign.
