Of all the many materials frequently used in creating business logo signs and corporate lobby signs, one of the more interesting is cast metal, whether aluminum, bronze, or other.
The use of cast metal provides an opportunity to create a logo or sign design in three dimensions with interesting detail. Cast metal can convey permanence, solidarity, and prosperity as a more "weighty" material than less expensive alternatives.
In addition, the 3D details can be somewhat unique to a cast product unless a three axis milling machine is used to create a part. The angular shapes pictured below are the top portions of a tree logo that were cast from aluminum and painted to match the client's two-tone logo specifications.
The client presented us with their 2D logo and a challenge to create a sign that would demonstrate a sense of success and prominence to the client's investors and other constituents within their property management industry.
Laser cut and painted acrylic letters were fastened to a frosted acrylic panel which in turn was fastened through aluminum standoffs to a stained wood panel. But the most interesting twist came about by a suggestion to create the tree portion of the logo with true three dimensional features. As a result the cast metal tree components are individually attached to the wall and are thicker along their center line with a taper towards the edges of the "branches." The thickness of the tree components decreases from the base of the tree to the top most segment.
Cast metal enabled the final features of the tree logo in this corporate lobby sign, and the client's words of feedback were "It looks great! We've had a lot of compliments on the sign!"
When you want to create a unique 3D logo sign, consider the use of cast metal. We'll help you evaluate how it could be incorporated into your interior business signs and your outdoor commercial signage.
