Food Truck Wraps! The Ingredients for Great Food Truck Signage

Posted on August 02, 2012 | Posted by Rich Novia

Nashville has seen an increase in food trucks as of late, and the niche market here keeps growing.  With that being said, all different kinds and styles of food trucks are being created every day.  From fast food, to fine dining, French cuisine, to dessert trucks, the choices for different foods are growing.  So what, besides their food, sets these trucks apart from the others?  The way they advertise their offerings through creative and attractive food truck wraps and graphics. Not only have these food trucks set themselves apart by the food they offer, but also how they look and market themselves.

Custom vinyl food truck wrap

We have had the pleasure of working with many of the local food truck vendors and helping their branding ideas come true.  Most recently, some specific food truck wraps we've done come to mind.  Retro Sno, a food truck supplying iced desserts recently contacted us to help them bring their vision for their truck to life.  When the truck was first presented to us, we decided to recommend that they get the truck painted in order to improve the quality of the surface conditions and to provide a solid base color.  Working with our designers, they were able to find vinyl colors that they decided on, and we provided them with samples of the vinyl to bring to the painter, who matched the base color.  Two weeks later, the truck was in our hands and we began applying the vinyl wrap elements to the truck right away.  Digitally printing and die-cutting their great looking "retro" logos, we applied them over the dark aqua stripes we created to complement the teal paint job.  The end result was a unique, fun food truck wrap that sets Retro Sno apart from other trucks.

We also found ourselves designing and installing a full wrap on the Bistro-To-Go food truck.  We spent time with the owners to create a special look that reflects their menu style, going with the rustic, European cafe-style.  Designing what looks to be the front of an actual brick and mortar "bistro," we added the look of an awning and even a chalkboard menu area on the wrap, using a special combination of materials.  This allows the client to write specials, menu options, etc. on one area of the food truck wrap.  By integrating the chalkboard area into the wrap, it looks like it was designed into the wrap (which it was!).  We apply a separate vinyl panel that gives the operator the chalkboard capability.

And not to leave out food trailer graphics and wraps as an viable option, we also helped our friends at Delta Bound to brand their trailer and to create mobile advertising for their food offerings.  Doesn't this article just make you hungry?!

Given how large food trucks can be, we regularly help our clients create effective partial food truck wraps - just covering key, flat areas for maximum visual branding impact while keeping overall project costs down.  The graphics for the "Your Dish is our Command" food truck is an example of this approach.

The folks at Mere Bulles took the opportunity to create a rolling billboard for two businesses by using different truck wrap graphics on both sides: the restaurant Mere Bulles of Brentwood; and, Bulles Bros. catering.

Tilly's food truck graphics were a combination of the logo (printed and die-cut to shape) and more panels simulating chalk boards where the proprietors could update the daily menu.

We enjoy helping our friends in the food truck industry, and we look forward to helping with many more custom food truck wraps and graphics!
