When we've discussed color change car wraps in the past, we've focused on topics such as high-end exotic vehicle wraps in a matte or satin black vinyl. We're also taking advantage of new color options available from reputable wrap vinyl manufacturers to create a consistent color base for fleet vehicle wraps.
For example, when we have wrapped previous catering vans for Moe's Southwest Grill in Middle Tennessee, we have printed all of the yellow graphics. Recent color options from vinyl manufacturers include a pre-colored yellow vinyl that is very close to the official corporate yellow color. Given that our own printing just gets us "close" to the corporate yellow and that the pre-colored material will last longer, there is a compelling argument to using the pre-colored vinyl material for vehicle wraps. In addition, the pre-colored material is not as sensitive to "blow out" if the vinyl is overstretched.
We took a similar approach when installing business advertising fleet vehicle wraps for a Chevrolet dealer. We identified a blue that is very close to the corporate Chevy blue and used it as the base color for all of the vehicle graphics.
In both of these cases, we added secondary graphics that were both digitally printed (such as the round Moe's logo and the black license plate logo) and that were cut from white or black vinyl to create the additional lettering.
What are the advantages from the client's perspective?
- Color consistency throughout the wrap and vehicle-to-vehicle
- Fewer color "blow outs" that discolor the wrap vinyl
- Longer color duration for the base vinyl (the secondary graphics will fade before the base vinyl will fade)
