One of the technical capabilities we are able to offer our clients is the ability to create what we call "die-cut" graphics. We use this capability in situations where a special shape is required for a client's logo and elements of the graphics package. As one means of reducing the costs of branding their fleet graphics, die-cut decal logos and graphics can replace full vehicle wraps.
The white fleet truck and Transit vans for Details To Go were branded with large logo decals that were printed, laminated with a protective UV laminate, and then cut to shape with a thin white outline. This outline can be seen on the windows of the truck pictured above.
Using die-cut graphics for fleet vehicle advertising isn't limited to a company's logo. We used this capability to create more complex "ribbons and profiles" graphics in the partial wraps for SouthCentral A/V's fleet.
Similarly, the cartoon mascot in FiveStar Plumbing's fleet graphics design was printed, laminated, and cut to shape - including the water drops!
Our fabrication equipment will print the die-cut vinyl graphics with special "registration marks." After we laminate the printed vinyl to provide a protective clear layer over the printed features, these registration marks allow us to feed the printed sheets back through the printer, which recognizes the location of the printed features and can then procede to cut the shapes we designed.
This capability also becomes useful when we are asked to provide fleet graphics text in a color that matches a client's logo specification. Although we would typically cut text from a pre-colored vinyl material, this type of material has a limited color selection that doesn't allow us to always get a close match on a logo color. For example, the red text in the Details To Go fleet branding is printed and then die cut to shape in order to match the red in the logo graphics.
And in case you're asking yourself the question, "Why even worry about putting any graphics on my fleet vehicles?" (whether you have one or hundreds of vehicles), we'd encourage you to read this article regarding how consumers respond to vehicle wraps and fleet graphics.
