Dimensional logo signs can be fabricated from a variety of materials and using a number of fabrication processes to create interesting 3-dimensional representations of a company's logo. One such fabrication process is powder coating, which is used to create a unique metal finish.
Logo signs are frequently used in corporate lobbies and conference rooms to brand a company's interior facility, so it is important that the logo representation be done with high quality materials and fabrication; businesses and organizations want to make strong and positive first impressions with the overall "look" of its reception area or lobby. A great example of this is the logo sign created for Kenny Pipe's new corporate facility. In spite of the company's industrial segment, the finished look of the reception area was very important to achieve an overall professional and corporate look.
The wall behind the reception desk was covered with a beautiful textured marble stone. The dimensional logo sign was designed to complement the professional interior, and the particular powder coat color selected (a dark bronze) works well with other dark colors incorporated into the decor. Powder coated metal can provide gloss, matte, and textured metal finishes in a wide variety of colors, both dark and bright.
The logo shape was cut into 1/8" thick steel plate, and the main sign plate as well as the interior letter sections were then powder coated. In order to complete the finished appearance, the aluminum standoffs were also powder coated in the same color. Clear acrylic was used as a backer behind the powder coated metal pieces in order to provide an attachment point for the interior letter sections. The standoffs create additional depth for the sign, and the slight shadow created highlights the dimensionality of this logo sign assembly technique.
Powder coating creates a durable finish on many metals, thus opening up many possibilities for finishes that can be offered on both interior and exterior commercial signage. A wide range of color and texture options can be seen at one powder coating manufacturer's Web site.
Dimensional logo signs are also assembled using acrylic, stone, and wood in addition to metal. For example, the Heritage Properties sign uses a combination of stained wood, aluminum attachment hardware, frosted clear acrylic, dimensional acrylic letters, and painted cast aluminum.
