Tools that fight moisture
For large paper posters to send your message and look great in wet conditions, there are two required tools:
- Solvent-based inks - Normally paper posters utilize water-based inks, but these will run when exposed to moisture. With solvent-based inks, this can be prevented. As an added bonus, these eco-solvent inks are nontoxic and don't emit nasty fumes that require additional ventilation.
- Specialty paper coatings - A regular paper poster will dribble ink everywhere when it gets wet. But specialty coatings can prevent this. These coatings work to bind with eco-solvent inks in order to stop runny messes.
In addition to these tools, large paper posters are unique in that they're designed with high wet strength, meaning they're sturdier, even when they become wet.

Affordable outdoor signage
In the past, weatherizing paper posters was more expensive because they were printed with an offset printing process, which requires large setup costs. Nowadays, digital large format printing can be utilized to create a more cost-effective means of producing small quantity short runs of paper posters. This translates to affordable options for businesses, churches and other organizations who are in need of large print weatherized paper posters for outdoor display.
