Whether it's at your local high school or Wrigley Field, sports stadiums are a great place for signage. Arena signage can benefit the arena owners by provided sponsorship advertising dollars, by branding the stadium with the teams' identity, and by getting graphics that inspire fan loyalty.
This is your opportunity to have thousands of people see your signage, so make it count!
Did you know that an advertisement on a jumbotron at a sporting event can cost between $4,500 and $15,000 per game? Looks like those giant screens can do more than show instant replays and embarrass people with a "Kiss Cam." Stadiums that don't take into account advertising opportunities are missing out on a chance to make some major dinero from local and corporate sponsorships.
But it's much more than just advertising opportunities being lost: it's the opportunity to build your identity as a team—whatever your sport. What would high school rivalries be without large jersey-shaped banners to show who really is the best? Wouldn't a collegiate football team's locker room be cooler with an inspiring mural to fire up the players? How about a display featuring the history of a professional basketball team? Let us be your signage coach and inspire you to rethink your stadium or arena signage.
Wayfinding Signage
Although it's always necessary, the bigger the space the MORE necessary wayfinding signage becomes. This includes any signage that helps people know where they are and where they should be going. Bathroom signs, directories, maps, and room numbers all fall under this umbrella. Honestly, most stadium signage (other than advertisements) could possibly be classified as "wayfinding" because all of your signage should give information to the viewer about where they are, where they should go, and/or what they can do at that location.

Athlete Tribute Signage
One of the largest draws to your sports stadium could be some of the players your team has, (if you are a high school stadium, this is definitely the biggest draw), so banners celebrating your players' achievements or your current team roster could be a great addition to the interior or exterior of your stadium. Flags with years of championship wins, large banners with pictures of your players, bronze plaques, monuments, displays of the stadium's or team's history, all go a long way in creating a stadium identity, building fan loyalty, and enriching the experience of attendees.
Although these banners in front of BYU's Lavell Edwards Stadium promote the team's sponsors, they also support the team's brand and players.
Stadium Advertisements
Advertisements in a stadium are mutually beneficial for both parties involved. The stadium gets money for allowing companies to advertise, and companies gain business by showing off their products or services to thousands of people. You'd be hard pressed to find a stadium without advertisements, and pretty much all sports stadiums have had ads since the beginning of professional sporting events. Of course there's digital signage, but a company logo can be printed on everything from equipment to the inside of bathroom stalls . . . not that you'd want people to associate your company with their trip to the bathroom, but you get the idea.

Wall Murals and Graphics
Vinyl murals and graphics are a great way to decorate or advertise in a space because, although they are very durable, they are also easy to remove when and if you want to update your signage. Wall wrapping films can usually only be applied to smooth surfaces, but there are specialty wrap films that can go on textured surfaces like brick and concrete which are perfect for outdoor application. Getting digitally printed or cut vinyl graphics is a better option than getting hand-painted designs because it's easier to color-match design files, printing the design goes much faster than hand-painting would, and unlike paint vinyl comes off easily with no damage to the wall.
These graphics, one representing the team and the other representing the fans, both do a great job of giving the space a definite identity.
Additional Graphics
Graphics of the team mascot or logo can be put on pretty much anything. It's been very popular lately to get vinyl graphics, names, and pinstriping on team helmets. We've even wrapped the golf carts for Vanderbilt University's basketball, football, and baseball teams. If you can put graphics on it, why not do it? It's an extremely cost-effective way to advertise and indentify your space as your own. Not to mention it looks totally boss.

Concessions Signage
People need to know where they can get their hot dogs and pretzels! Concessions signage needs to be functional as well as visually appealing because the swarms of people walking in the hallway need to be able to get information fast. Don't frustrate or confuse the fans ("Look, all I want is a bottle of water that costs less than 10 bucks," or "I was sent to get nachos for everybody but I also need to get five Slurpees. Which kiosk has that?") by not having clear concessions signage. Prices, pictures of food, and menus should all be legible, well-lit, and prominently placed.

Electric Lighted Signs
Channel letters outside (or on top of) your stadium help people unfamiliar with the area find you and also help remind people what your stadium is called! It may be hard to believe that people would need to be reminded of what giant sports complexes in their cities are called, but if it has had a name change, been bought out by another company, or is called something different than what it used to be called for any reason, people will have a hard time remembering. Channel letters also attract attention to the building at night by lighting up and standing out.
