How We Create Custom Lobby Logo Signs That Impress

Posted on September 26, 2019 | Posted by Kris Williamson

One of the most important custom signs a business owner or manager will purchase is the company’s logo sign. This sign is often the first branded element a new or potential customer will see after walking through the front door of your business. So how do you create a beautiful sign that best represents your company? Here are the steps that we follow to create custom lobby logo signs that impress!

Initial Planning

When we meet with a client for the first time, we ask a lot of questions to understand the message they’re trying to convey through their lobby signage. These include:

  1. What does the sign need to do? How will it function in your space?
  2. Where will it be displayed? What surface will it be placed against?
  3. What size are you visualizing?
  4. What’s your budget?
  5. Have you seen other signs that have caught your eye? Can you show us examples and tell us what you like about them?

Selecting Materials

The next thing to consider is the material that will be used to fabricate the sign. When a logo sign is well designed with the right materials, it instantly brings professionalism and credibility to your business. There are a variety of materials available to create this type of custom signage, including:

  • Acrylic
  • Brushed Metal
  • Aluminum
  • Steel
  • Wood
  • PVC Plastics
  • Vinyl
  • And more!

Each of these materials can create a different impression for your business. For example, acrylic comes in a wide range of colors that can be easily cut into letters and shapes, as well as layered for a dimensional effect. Metals are more sophisticated, so they work well for businesses such as banks, investment firms, lawyer’s offices and upscale stores or salons. Wood provides a warm, welcoming feeling. And vinyl can also be used in signage to create unique colors or other effects. You should consider which of these materials will work best for your business.

Dimensional logo signs can also be fabricated in layers or with two or more materials to create a unique look. For instance, the sign in the photo below contains brushed gold metal letters and Franklin Synergy Bank’s pineapple brand mark adhered to a frosted acrylic panel.

Design

Now it’s time to get started on the design! Our team of talented designers will take your material selections, logo or other artwork that you’ve provided and the information they’ve gathered during the planning phase, and they will create a design proof. The proof will allow you to visualize your sign prior to fabrication.
