Mesh Banners: A Great Solution for Outdoor Advertising

Posted on September 26, 2018 | Posted by Kris Williamson

Planning an outdoor event which requires advertising? Or do you need custom signage to hide a construction zone? Mesh banners are a great solution for your outdoor signage needs. They provide eye-catching graphics on breathable material designed to withstand the elements. Here are several reasons why mesh banners are ideal and locations where they're commonly used.

Mesh banner material. 12-Point SignWorks - Franklin, TN For most mesh banners, we typically use "small hole" mesh with removable liner. For larger banners, a material with larger holes may be required.

Mesh banners are made of perforated vinyl that allows air to pass through. The vinyl comes with liner that prevents ink from leaking when graphics are printed on its surface. The liner is removed after the ink is applied. We print mesh banners using our wide format HP Latex printer. This creates beautiful banners that are more vibrant than most typical mesh banners.

Mesh banners offer several advantages over standard vinyl banners, including:

  • They’re ideal for windy and wet conditions.
  • They last longer and are more durable than standard vinyl.
  • They weigh less than standard vinyl.
  • They’re easy to install and store.

Mesh banners work great when used in the following locations or situations:

Outdoor Events

Mesh banners are great for promoting any type of outdoor event, including store openings, promotional sales, sporting events, exhibits, school presentations, and more. The photos below show mesh banners we printed and installed for the 2018 Chukkers for Charity event at Riverview Farm in Franklin, TN. These banners were installed along fences and on the announcer tower. We also installed teardrop banners and pop-out ground signage to promote the event.

Building Banners

The lighter weight makes mesh banners ideal for large scale installation on the sides of buildings. In the photo below, we installed large digitally printed building banners, also called building wraps, to advertise Spotify’s Hot Country playlist on Blake Shelton’s new Ole Red restaurant & live music venue in Nashville, TN during the 2018 CMA Fest. To learn more about this project, read this article: Spotify Building Banners & Window Graphics Make Big Impact at CMA Fest.

The center banner with the Hot Country logo was 15.8’ x 30’ and the two smaller banners were 3’  x 30’. They were sewn on all sides and reinforced with webbing, a cross-stitched nylon strip sewn inside the hem, which prevented the grommets from tearing in the wind or from the weight of the large banner. The borders were mounted to the side of the building with anchors. As you can see, these signs made a big impression!

Concerts

Outdoor concerts are the perfect place to install mesh banners, because they catch the attention of a captive audience. Mesh banners can include event information and sponsor logos, along with decorative artwork. The large hanging banners pictured below were added to the stage truss for the renovated Franklin Theater’s Grand Re-Opening. Notice how large and eye-catching these banners were. What a great way to promote this event!

Construction Sites

One of the best ways to hide unsightly construction is to install mesh banners which advertise new buildings being constructed. The banners below show photos of the new Hyatt Regency hotel that’s being built in downtown Nashville, TN. The vibrant banners do a great job of getting people excited about what’s to come.

Sponsor Banners at Sporting Events

Mesh banner material is also typically used for the larger sponsor banners installed on fencing at football games and other sporting events. We reinforce these banners with PVC strips along the edges.

We recently printed and installed sponsor banners for Summit High School’s football team along the field’s fencing. To learn more about this project, see the photo below and read this article: Custom Banners Honor Seniors & Recognize Sponsors at Area Football Games.
