All of our projects take time to complete, but some require more than the standard period it takes for layout and production. Our latest Project of the Week took almost three months from initial inquiry to installation. The additional time was attributed to some big changes! The company, Holistic Financial Partners, moved office locations and updated their logo. Those are two big projects on their own!
Once things were settled and the new logo design was complete, they contacted us to move forward with their interior logo sign for their office in Indianapolis, IN. (I know, the title says 2 signs, but the project began with only one.) They actually didn't add the second sign until within a week of their October 1st deadline. We were busy right up to the end!
For the first (and original) sign, the company wanted a dimensional logo sign. They knew exactly where they wanted the sign to go, and they even sent us a photo of the surrounding furniture. A black cabinet already in the room served as the marker for where the sign would hang.
In the beginning, Holistic Financial Partners thought they wanted the sign to be 60" wide, centered above the black cabinet. By using the photo of the wall and cabinet that they supplied, we were able to create samples to show them how the sign would look actually hanging on the wall.
We gave them options for 60" wide (top photo), 96" wide and 115" wide (bottom photo) so that they could determine the size that they wanted for their interior dimensional sign. The visual proof with the cabinet really helped them see how the final sign would look installed on the wall.
After seeing the different options, Holistic Financial Partners chose the 96" wide version. We used the photos as well as a proof for the actual signage to provide all of the information that they needed on how the finished sign would look. Below, you can see the proofed sign with the noted dimensions. (Some clients only get a proof that looks like the one below, which typically includes dimensions, materials, hanging instructions and other information that details how the sign will be fabricated. By adding the photo, the client really could see how their custom sign would look installed.)
This sign was made with 3/8" thick laser cut black acrylic letters with a 1/16" thick rowmark simulated stainless steel face. For the brandmark, we added a gloss laminated digital print in the logo color to the face of the laser cut acrylic shape.
We custom packaged and shipped the pieces, along with an installation template, to the Indianapolis office for the company to install. They used the template and 3M VHB (very high bond) adhesive tabs to secure the pieces of the dimensional sign to the wall. (At this time, we are awaiting a photo of the finished sign and will post it once we receive it!)
BUT...we weren't done! Shortly before the October 1st deadline, Holistic Financial Partners decided that they wanted an additional logo sign for the conference room in their new office space using a new design for their updated logo. They contacted us to see if we could make it happen, and we immediately began working on the proof for them.
They chose a 1/4" thick frosted acrylic backer laser cut into a 30" diameter circle. To create the 24" diameter logo, we applied light grey vinyl to the back (or second surface) of the frosted acrylic backer. To the front side (or first surface) of the backer, we bonded 1/8" thick laser cut acrylic letters in light grey. For the yellow brandmark of the logo, we applied a digitally printed and plotter cut piece of vinyl in the proper color to the face of the 1/8" thick laser cut acrylic shape.
This proof gave the client a visual idea of how the sign would look.
This is a view of the sign in our shop during assembly.
By holding up the completed sign in our shop, you can see the clean look of the frosted acrylic backer. There are 4 evenly spaced holes on the sign that were used to hang the sign on the wall with 1" diameter etched aluminum standoffs.
We securely packaged and shipped this sign with the dimensional logo sign. The company also installed this sign; however, the circular logo did not require a template because of the backer and standoff holes.
We love seeing the different ways that company logo signs can strengthen brands and unify offices. We hope to receive the photos of the installed signs soon so that we can feature them on this blog. We think both signs turned out fantastic!
