12-Point SignWorks' Signage Projects Of The Week

A BIG Addition to Forklift Systems' Custom Fleet

Posted on May 04, 2015 | Posted by Kris Williamson

Our professional relationship with Forklift Systems began back in 2013 when we worked with them to crate a custom vehicle wrap design for their new fleet of Nissan NV cargo vans. Since then, we have installed fleet advertising wraps on over ten of their Nissan NV vehicles. (We hope the number continues to grow!)

We feature examples of their vehicles on our website, and we often mention them in blog posts. Our latest project for Forklift Systems, however, deserves a spot in our Project of the Week blog. It's just that BIG.

Big, right? This Peterbilt spent some time in our shop getting a little custom make-over.
(Optimus, are you in there?)

This Peterbilt was custom built for the folks at Forklift Systems. The truck has bold red fenders.(Yep, we didn't wrap those!) Our job was to design custom branding graphics for the hood and cab that would incorporate the brand's red and blue colors and the Forklift Systems logo.

This is how we received the truck. The red fenders are custom for Forklift Systems.

Now we have access to a lot of templates for vehicles, but finding a template for a Peterbilt can be pretty tough. The great thing for us is that we have a team of creative geniuses who can help with little problems like this. Solution: We just made our own. Once we had the template ready, we designed the custom graphics to fit the hood and cab and to incorporate the red fenders into the bold color scheme.

After the design was completed and approved by Forklift Systems, we digitally printed and laminated it using only premium materials. The installation took some time due to the lines of the fenders and the hood. For this wrap, we used a lot of knifeless tape to really ensure that we defined the intricate lines of the truck. FYI: Knifeless tape is a specialized tape with a bit of wire in it. The tape is colored and goes down before the actual vinyl is placed on the truck. After the vinyl is installed, we gently remove the wire to create a smooth slice in the vinyl as its pulled up. This protects the vehicle from possible scratches that could occur from using a knife or blade to trim the vinyl.

You will probably see the Forklift Systems fleet on the road if you travel around the Nashville area. The Nissan NV cargo vans are used for maintenance and repair services. This truck is used for transporting the big machinery. If you find yourself in the need of a forklift, scissor lift, boom lift, floor sweeper, floor scrubber, reach truck, order picker or electric pallet truck, give them a call! (We all need one of those at some point, right?!) They offer industrial equipment rental and can help get the big machines to you!
