Themed car wraps can be extremely fun and are easy to get excited about! They already have a design direction and are usually based on creative, fun, exciting themes. In this case, we were approached by a client looking to replicate the graphics on the vehicles in the movie Jurassic Park. The design process remains the same, but given the scope of the project, it's more replication and manipulation of graphics than creating something new. The vehicles in the movie were off-road-equipped SUVs roaming through a prehistoric land full of genetically engineered dinosaurs. For this project, we would be retro-fiiting the design to a more eco-friendly Toyota Prius intended for rolling through the metro streets of Nashville to promote the client’s upcoming fan film Jurassic Park Origins.
We started with a bit of research - using Google to find the best visual representation of the movie vehicles and collecting a few images from the client as well. We began using our vehicle wrap design template for the Prius and started creating and designing the striping and dialing in the colors needed to match the movie’s vehicles. Vector art and logos were either provided by the client or created by us in order to make the graphics very high resolution for large format printing. A full recreation of the wrap was finalized by the design team and approved by the client, ready to go to production.
The graphics were then digitally printed and laminated with cast wrapping material, and the install team began prepping the vehicle. We took the extra time to line the stripes up all over the vehicle so that the side stripes line up with the hood stripes for a seamless, fully integrated look. The final product makes for a full-color, full-coverage, Hollywood-larger-than-life custom themed car wrap that stands out in any crowd! Finished off with a lightbar, the car looks ready to be driven down the red carpet … or possible even over a few gnarly speed bumps … Check out our first time lapse video, created and filmed by the owner of the vehicle! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMv7QA9a1ws
