When the officers of BriBiz Entertainment Business & Financial Management moved into their new offices in Franklin TN, they knew they needed an attractive sign to help create a professional impression for their target clients in the entertainment industry.

They wanted the look of sandblasted wood, which creates a unique dimensional surface.  The officers of the firm had previously found an image of another sandblasted wood sign that was predominantly stained wood with raised text and that included a raised band painted in metallic gold.  This sign's general appearance was suggested as a baseline design for BriBiz's new sandblasted wood sign layout.

The company's own logo, as designed for print and web, has distressed features in the text and brightly colored blocks making up the large "B" in the logo.  We worked with the client to select a brief but clear description statement that could be large enough on the sign to communicate the nature of the business to potential clients.

The project's design goals included the creation of a sandblasted wood sign with areas of the sign to look like exposed stained wood.  Given that stained wood will fade and weather over time (think of that old wood deck behind your house!), we chose to paint the sandblasted wood with colors and patterns that from an appropriate distance have the appearance of exposed wood grain.  This gives the sign many years of resistance to the effects of weather.  The alternative was a messy requirement to restain the sign each year, potentially damaging the raised logo and text painted surfaces.
