We love opportunities to push creative boundaries, and this "steampunk" baby grand piano wrap for a touring artist was certainly fun challenge! We worked with Seale Keyworks of Franklin, TN to modify this piano case with digitally printed wrap graphics, oversized spinning gears, and lighting.
During final testing: the steampunk piano wrap with gears spinning and lights on! Hats are off to the team at Seale Keyworks for the integration of motion and lighting.
We appreciated the design challenge to create a piano wrap that would look like distressed, aged metal (including bolt heads, gears, and clockwork action mechanisms). Seale also added pipe rails on the side that are both part of the visual appearance as well as functional components. The rails protect the piano's wrap graphics when the piano is packaged in a crate for shipping between shows.

The gear was cut out of PVC and then painted to look like fatigued metal. You can see how the gear and the piano wrap design are integrated so that, when viewed from above, the locations of the gear printed on the wrap vinyl and of the physical gear would coincide.
The final integration and testing of the keyboard and motion/light electronics were completed at the artist's practice venue, and the piano has successfully been on tour for the past several months!
With the keyboard installed, this touring stage piano wrap is ready to rock!
If you hadn't previously read about the Super Bowl piano wrap we did in coordination with Yamaha and Seale Keyworks, that's another great story.
