We recently got to work on something much bigger than usual! A giant trailer truck cab for 3 Feathers Mobile Marketing. 3 Feathers uses their trailer for what they call "experiential marketing." It's a pretty cool concept! Their trailers expand and can be customized for their various clients. How experiential marketing works, is companies meet with their potential customers in a more personal way than they could by purchasing TV spots or offering coupons—they travel around in custom displays to various festivals, fairs, sporting events, etc. and get people to interact directly with the brand. Seems like a pretty good idea!
It would be hard to miss this bright yellow cab!
An example of one of their mobile marketing campaigns was one for Frank's RedHot hot sauce. They drove all across the U.S. from events like the Super Bowl and NASCAR races to state fairs and spring break festivals. They offered enough hot sauce samples to fill 400 hot tubs(!) and did "wet samples" for those who stuck around with pretzels, crackers, and chicken wings. Pictures were taken of people mid-bite and uploaded to a branded "Frank Yourself" website where attendees could get their photo in exchange for a little information. They gave out swag like hot sauce splatter magnets, t-shirts, drink koozies, and Red Hot lips. At some sporting events, Frank's staff would ride around on "scooter coolers" handing out samples to people who might not have otherwise seen the brand. Not only all of that, but at the Memphis stop they had a hot wing eating contest hosted by professional chef and TV personality Kevin Roberts that was filmed live! They really pulled out all the stops to get people involved and excited about the product. As a result, Frank's saw a 25% "lift" and a general increase in sales for 2013 in the regions they had done campaigns. Not too shabby!
They did a good job on choosing fonts that will be easy for people to read as they are driving by.
The cool thing about the mobile marketing truck is that it could be used for virtually any brand or company. They can host promotional concerts out of their truck, curate a mobile museum, run a mobile cafe, or anything else a brand can think of to get people tangibly involved and excited about their product.
The people at 3 Feathers wanted to get cut graphics of their logo and other info on the cab of the trailer because they knew that it would be a great way to promote their own company as well as they drove around marketing for others. If I saw one of those Frank's hot sauce events, I'd certainly be curious about who had organized all of it!
Branding from every angle—no matter which way you're facing them, you're probably going to see at least their company name and logo.
They gave us the art in a PDF format and it was easy for us to resize and layout the design of the trailer graphics for the size of their truck. It's actually just black cut vinyl! We didn't even need to print anything. The contrast between the black logos and the custom yellow paint is very striking, and we hope it helps them catch the attention of future customers! Studies have shown that the information displayed on vehicle wraps and graphics is easier for viewers to remember and retain than on any other type of signage.
