12-Point SignWorks' Signage Projects Of The Week

Safari Pet Resort's new vehicle wrap is tail-waggin' great!

We just wrapped a large Nissan NV for the Safari Pet Resort located in Murfreesboro, TN located right next MTSU's campus! Safari Pet Resort is no ordinary kennel and grooming service provider. They take pet care to a new level! Basically they're like our own local Bellagio for cats and dogs. There's doggie daycare, premium lodgings, nature walks, obedience school training, an award-winning grooming salon and spa, as well as a saltwater pool for dogs to swim in. Seriously, it's nicer than most of the hotels I've stayed in.

They wanted us to come up with a design for the wrap but weren't quite sure what they wanted at first. They wanted to play off their name in some way, and they liked our graphic designer's idea to make it appear as if dogs were actually on safari on the van. We went through four different drafts of design before deciding on the final one. The way the van looked had to promote fun (it is a pet resort, after all!) while still looking quality, professional, and on brand.

The first design had a more realistic looking "safari" vehicle by taking a photo of an actual Land Rover but had cartoon drawings of dogs. They decided that they preferred the look of actual photos of dogs to the cartoons so we added actual dogs in instead. Safari Pet Resort found a really cute Hasbro toy truck with zebra stripes and a wooden fence holding a hippo and a monkey that they wanted their wrap to be inspired by. Our graphic designer hand-drew the striped pick up truck in Photoshop for the final design, which everybody loved. So we started with a photo of a car with drawn animals and ended up with a drawn car with photos of animals!

In addition to a cool safari vehicle, Safari Pet Resort really wanted to show off a variety of breeds to let anyone who sees the vehicle wrap know that they take care of dogs of all shapes and sizes. We ended up changing out the dogs two or three times to get the group just right. In the end, we think it turned out pretty well! It's fun, creative, and will catch the attention of everyone the van drives past.

The installation itself didn't take very long—only about a day and a half. We used Avery 1005 wrap vinyl that had been laminated with Avery 1060, so it's a complete Avery wrap. The people at Safari Pet Resort loved it, which is always what we strive for!

So what do you think? Does it make you want to send your dog on a vacation, or leave them at Safari Pet Resort while you go on one yourself?
