12-Point SignWorks' Signage Projects Of The Week

Brand new acrylic logo sign for Wall Street Italian Grill

Posted on July 07, 2014 | Posted by Brooke Randell

You may know this local joint as "Wall Street Pizzeria," but the restaurant owners are looking to rebrand, and rename, their restaurant as the Wall Street Italian Grill. In addition to a new name and new signage, the restaurant will be offering a wider menu with more varied options for people who love a whole spectrum of Italian cuisine.

We made the first sign for Wall Street Pizzeria back when they first opened, and now as they are growing up and and changing their image we've made them a more grown-up exterior restaurant sign to replace the first one.

The new design looks a lot more professional and clean!

The restaurant provided the design of the new sign for us from an independent designer they use for their marketing products. We did a few minor tweaks to the design here and there to make it work better for the production of the sign, but overall the design stayed pretty much the same from the beginning of the process to the end!

Part of what we wanted to do was to make a professional looking acrylic sign that hid all of the hardware completely. When you're looking at a sign you don't necessarily want to see all the elevator bolts and brackets that are holding it up—you definitely want people to pay more attention to whatever the sign is advertising!

The new sign is a contoured oblong shape instead of just a rectangle, which makes it a little more dynamic looking. The whole sign is made by layering different cut acrylic elements on top of each other. Using a base of a 6 mm ACP (aluminum composite) sheet, we stacked the other elements on top to make the final dimensions of the base about 1/4-inch thick.

We used a template that's essentially a sticker with the shapes of the letters and other graphics cut out of it. After placing down the letters inside the template using an adhesive, we just had to pull up the template and it was good to go! The whole sign was then bolted to the exterior of the restaurant, so it's not going anywhere for a long time.

In addition to the exterior logo sign, we were also able to create a carry-out parking sign for them as well as frosted window etch graphics to help further brand their building. We really love the way the sign turned out and we can't wait to visit them and try out their new menu!
