Sometimes simplicity is best when you are designing office signage. We recently created an office sign featuring the mission statement for Advanced Scientifics (ASI). The great thing about this sign is that it serves as an added piece to an existing lobby sign that we created in early 2013. The combination of the two looks fantastic! (Well, we surely think so!)

For the original sign, we used a bright brushed aluminum laminate and bonded it to 1/2" clear acrylic. The materials were custom cut with a router, creating the ASI logo. With the rich blue color of the wall, the brushed aluminum and clear acrylic offer a clean look that really pops!

This sign was mounted to the wall using "studs" and "spacers" to provide a dimensional look. These create a gap from the wall that adds to the visual appeal of ASI's logo.

Now for the addition! ASI asked us to create a sign that could hang below their logo sign and would feature the company's mission statement. Because of the materials used for the logo sign, we could easily tie in the new sign with the existing sign. For the mission statement, we used a frosted acrylic panel and added the vinyl letters of the mission statement to the backside of the panel. This "second surface" design creates a softer effect when reading the mission statement. The frosted acrylic panel also protects the lettering to guarantee this mission statement will hold up for the long haul.

To visually connect the two signs, aluminum standoffs were used for the four corners of the acrylic panel. The standoffs complement the brushed aluminum of the original logo sign, completing the unified look for ASI's lobby. The acrylic panel was carefully packaged and shipped to ASI. Using the standoffs, they were able to easily mount it below the logo sign. 

We love how simple materials allow us to create new and complementary pieces. This example of signage is so versatile in many different ways. The brushed metal material and clear acrylic used in the logo sign offer a layered look that can be customized to fit any office space. We offer the brushed metal material in silver, gold and even a copper color. The acrylic, which is a markedly less expensive material, comes in a variety of standard colors. The combination of the two provides endless options for custom lobby signs that can fit just about any budget and design. If a specific color is not available in the standard selection, the acrylic can be custom painted. The standoffs used in the frosted acrylic panel sign are available in colors that will complement any look desired. These materials represent simplicity at its best!
