Black River at Sound Stage is a state of the art facility in the heart of Music City. The studio, founded in 1975, underwent extensive renovations a few years ago to enhance the interior's "unique and creative vibe." The original renovation plan for the studio included the addition of interior steel doors. They chose not to install the steel doors in the studio at that time, but the desire for the metal look remained.
We were contacted by a representative from Black River at Sound Stage to see how we could create the metal look on the studio's doors with architectural film. We took samples of various textured metal samples, and they chose a gorgeous brushed metal pattern.
The brushed metal architectural film completes the look of this
extremely cool studio in Music City.
We used Belbien decorative resurfacing film for this project. The product is available in over 500 standard interior and exterior patterns, and custom finishes also are available. The patterns are truly lifelike, representing various wood veneers, marble, granite, ceramics, leather and metals. Belbien films have a pressure sensitive adhesive, which cures to its impressive optimum bonding strength within just 8-12 hours after application. The film is commonly used on wall panel systems, casework, store fixtures, columns, doors and elevators - just to name a few!
For the doors of Black River at Sound Stage, we used the
Belbien Brushed Metal BR391 pattern.
Although this is a specialty film, we used the same tools that we normally use for a vinyl wrap installation: squeegee, heat and adhesive promoter. One slight difference was that we only needed to use the adhesive promoter where the architectural film overlapped - to really guarantee a nice even seam. The actual installation for eleven doors in the studio took a total of 34 hours. We didn't just wrap the doors either! We also wrapped the casings and window trim, which required very detailed handy work for all of the angles and edges. We think the finished product was worth every second of install time!

We wrapped the casings of the doors, too, to really complete the look
of this Music City studio!
We always love projects like this where we can add something unique and special to an integral part of what gives Nashville it's name: Music City. This studio is truly a part of Nashville's musical history. Over 500 number one singles have been cut at Black River at Sound Stage. Oh, if only the walls of Sound Stage could talk. (I would definitely be listening!)
