Advertising Wraps for Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee

Posted on January 05, 2015 | Posted by Kris Williamson

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America have been around for over a century, and we are proud to say that our organization here in Middle Tennessee is one of the originals. For 111 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee have provided a safe place for youth to learn and grow while offering ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals; life-enriching programs with character development experiences; hope and opportunity. There are four key features that serve as the foundation for each Boys & Girls Club:

  • Facilities dedicated to youth programs and activities
  • Club hours for when kids need a place to go the most - weekdays after school and during the summer
  • Trained professionals who serve as role models and mentors with volunteers offering supplemental support
  • Affordability and availability for all youth regardless of gender, ethnicity, or income

We are thrilled to help our local organization by wrapping six of the buses used by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. At this time, we have completed the advertising wraps for two out of the six, and the third bus will be picked up today!

The first of six buses we wrapped for Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee!
We removed some graphics from the sides of this bus before installing the wrap, but we left some of the darker blue decals on the front of the bus as accents.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee provided us with the graphics for the wraps, but they aren't formatted to fit the buses. Since each bus is different, Rich uses his amazing talents to create custom templates for each one. To do this, we take photos of each bus from different angles. Rich uses reference points on the photos to scale the dimensions to match the dimensions of the graphics they provided. He then strategically places the graphics onto the templates to create an individual design for each bus. Once he has the design in place, he creates the print files that are sent to our wide format color printer.

This process is a little different than the one Rich uses when a customer wants a color change wrap or custom graphics placed on a standard vehicle. For most vehicles on the road today, he has a program that provides templates for specific makes and models. Since these buses are a bit older and are all different makes and models, Rich uses the photos to generate his own custom templates. Pretty handy, huh?!

Although it's a little smaller than the first bus, the graphics still look very similar!

If you are curious about the materials we are using for these advertising wraps, here you go! We are digitally printing on Avery MPI 1005 EZ vinyl with an Avery DOL 1060 gloss overlaminate. The Avery MPI 1005 is commonly used for vehicle graphics and wraps. The Avery DOL 1060 offers protection from scratches while enhancing the colors in the graphics. This overlaminate is known for its outstanding durability and outdoor performance. It's also UV, temperature and humidity resistant, which provides extra protection for the colorful graphics.

For the windows on the back of the buses, we are using perforated window film. (You can see it in the photo above!) The perforated film has thousands of microscopic holes on 50% of its surface. This allows the design to continue across the back without blocking the visibility from the inside out.

We are in the process of completing bus three of six! You can see the design layout of both sides and the back of the advertising wrap taped to the windows of the bus.
This gives Felix reference points as he installs the wrap.

We can't wait to see the entire fleet of buses out on the road, providing valuable mobile advertising for Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. We know they all will attract a lot of attention!

All of the Club locations focus on creating a positive impact on the life of each individual child.
