We were contacted by Infiniti of Cool Springs to install advertising wraps on two of their dealership vehicles, an Infiniti QX60 and a Nissan NV2500 High Roof Cargo Van. Since Infiniti of Cool Springs has an in-house advertising agency, Automotive Advertising Group (AAG), we worked with them directly to obtain the wrap designs. Although AAG created the advertising wrap designs, we provided them with the vehicle templates and our 12-Point guidelines for what we needed. Initially, we received full coverage wrap designs; however, Infiniti of Cool Springs decided to alter the designs to make them partial coverage wraps. Rich consulted with AAG to adjust the full coverage designs to make them artistically pleasing as partial wraps, allowing them to seamlessly flow from vinyl to paint.
Although the vehicles are very different, the design concepts for the QX60 and the NV2500 are basically identical. They both include the name and contact information for Infiniti of Cool Springs. They also have digital photographs of the dealership incorporated into the wrap design. Both vehicles have the same purple color with the fade that draws your eye along the design.
Here is the wrap on the Infiniti QX60. The design takes the purple lines of the vehicle profile in the logo and uses them to create visually appealing lines on the front of the QX60. These lines mark the transition from the vehicle wrap to the vehicle paint.
One challenge that we faced was with the purple fade on the rear bumper of the QX60. The original design, when printed, did not allow for the fade to match up properly when the wrap was installed. Rich worked his design magic and adjusted the design to allow the purple fade to transition perfectly from along the rear bumper to the sides of the vehicle. You can see this seamless transition in the photo above.
The partial coverage wrap on the Nissan NV 2500 covers everything from just past the driver and passenger doors. Even the back doors are covered in vinyl.
For both vehicles, we used the same standard (for us) vinyl material. We digitally printed the graphics on our HP Latex 360 64" Wide Format High Production Printer, using Avery MPI 1005 EZ vinyl with an Avery DOL 1060 gloss overlaminate.
Both vehicles also have perforated window vinyl on the rear windows, which allows the lovely folks inside the vehicles to be able to see out without any problems. For the window wraps, we used Oracal 3675 Perforated Window Film. This perforated film, unlike the regular, non-perforated vinyl on the rest of the vehicles, has thousands of microscopic holes on 50% of its surface. This allows the design to continue across the back of the vehicles while providing that inside out visibility.
To the window film, we applied the Oracal ORAGUARD 290GF Optically Clear Premium Cast Overlaminate. The Oracal 290GF overlaminate protects the perforated window vinyl from humidity, dust and other contaminates. The use of the laminate prevents haze, fade and reduced visibility, which are necessary for maintaining the 'optically clear' visibility that all drivers need.
In case you are wondering a little about the Infiniti brand, here are some FUN FACTS for you!
- Infiniti was founded by a top-secret task force that was formed within Nissan in 1985. The purpose of this group was to design a luxury brand that would compete with the U.S. and European brands being sold in America.
- Infiniti received its name and logo in July 1987. The logo includes two central lines, which lead off "into an infinite point on the horizon."
- The Infiniti brand launched in 1989. Two models were sold at 51 dealerships throughout the country. The Infiniti Total Ownership Experience also began, which labeled Infiniti as a leading brand for customer satisfaction.
The same drive for customer satisfaction that began in 1989 continues today at Infiniti of Cool Springs. Along with a recent renovation, our Middle Tennessee dealership offers luxury vehicles and incomparable customer service. According to the website, Infiniti of Cool Springs is rated #1 in the nation for both customer satisfaction and service. They happily and professionally serve customers in Franklin, Brentwood, Nashville and Murfreesboro.
