We have the opportunity to really get creative when it comes to advertising wraps, and some wraps become a little more exciting than others. It really just depends on the goal of the design. Lately, we've had the chance to work on some advertising wraps for food trucks. Let me tell you - they are a lot of fun! Because customers actually mingle and wait around the trucks themselves, the designs can offer a little more color and activity that a normal advertising wrap may not include.
Just this last week, we completed an advertising wrap for Polar Tropical Shaved Ice & Sweet Treats. We've been working with the owners of Polar Tropical for quite some time now so it was really exciting to see the final product of their wrap design and installation!
We started our project with Polar Tropical many months ago - before they even had a logo created. They knew that they wanted an advertising wrap for their food truck so we gave them our guidelines on how to get started. Once they had their logo designed, they came in to meet with us. This creative meeting basically gave the owners a chance to tell us what they imagined and hoped for their food truck. After we spoke with them, we created an initial design. From that design, the owners worked with us on revisions until the food truck was just right!
Here are a few of the key items that the owners wanted on the truck:
- Cold (polar) elements - snow, polar ice caps
- Hot (tropical) elements - beach, palm trees
- A polar bear
- Contact information
- Use of their logo for branding
We combined all of their ideas into what we called an "extreme hemisphere mash-up". A few details came from stock images, but the majority of the wrap design was hand drawn by our talented graphic designers. One example is the adorable polar bear who was hand illustrated by us. Through the course of the revisions, they added the flip flops, flowered board shorts and Ray-Ban sunglasses to that cool bear. And yes, the sunglasses are Ray-Bans! The owner wanted the bear to have swag. :)
Here are two different proofs from the creative process. You can see how some things - like the polar bear's clothes - changed with the designs.
Another highlight of the design was the artwork for the two surfboards on the truck. The curves provided a bit of a challenge, but our designers mastered the layout! The boards were seamlessly wrapped (meaning you can't see any seams), and they even continued the wrap around the edges and deep onto the back of the boards. This gives the look of an authentic wood grain on the surfboards no matter what angle you look at them. Because of the contour of the boards, we installed the tag line on the bottom edge with cut white vinyl. On an extra fun and refreshing note, the surfboards have spray nozzles on the corners that can mist the customers on those steamy summer days ahead!
Because this wrap doesn't cover the entire food truck, it is considered a partial coverage wrap design. We did install a logo decal on the forehead of the truck, but the hood and forehead do not have an actual wrap design on them. This offers Polar Tropical the flexibility of adding onto the wrap at a later date. We also created the design to be very universal. With the potential of adding trucks and trailers down the road, the design can easily be customized to fit a variety of vehicle styles. This will make future branding projects so much simpler.
We could go on and on about the details and features of this wrap. What do you think of it? Please let us know in the comment section below.
