12-Point SignWorks' Signage Projects Of The Week

Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County Gets New Advertising Wraps

Posted on January 05, 2016 | Posted by Kris Williamson

Exactly one year ago...to this day!...our Project of the Week post featured advertising bus wraps for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. For our featured project today, we are using the same concept to wrap new buses for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County (BGCRC). Since 1986, BGCRC has been serving the young people in Rutherford County, providing them with safe places to grow, learn, and become successful adults. The nonprofit organization currently works with over 3,000 youth in that area. With all of those children, they certainly need buses to transport them from place to place.

Although we are using the same general design as the buses for the Middle Tennessee Clubs, we needed to adjust the layout to fit the buses used by BGCRC. They purchased brand new Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2 buses for the children, and they are beautiful. We've worked on the first three (of nine!), and they all arrived with typical yellow bodies and roofs.

Here's a little shot of the first bus in our shop - before we started installing the wrap.

Because the design requires an all white body, we had some work cut out for us in the beginning. We covered the front and rear of the buses in high-performance white vinyl material with a UV gloss laminate. We used the same material to cover the areas in between each window (except the reflective sections) to give the buses a unified look.

Once the layout for the design was approved by BGCRC, we digitally printed it on Avery MPI 1005 EZ vinyl with an Avery DOL 1060 gloss overlaminate. We installed the printed graphics from below the windows down to the rocker panels on the sides of the buses. Again, we left all of the reflective areas exposed.

Here is a close-up view of the side of a bus. You can see the white vinyl between the windows and the digital print running along the side.

Once the print was installed, we added cut vinyl graphics, including the BGCRC logo, to the sides of the buses.

Since we covered the front of the buses with white vinyl, we added BGCRC logo decals to the hoods and added 'CLUB BUS' where it usually says 'SCHOOL BUS' at the top of the cabs.

On the rear of the buses, we labeled the emergency doors, added the 'CLUB BUS' header, and added graphics to the center windows. For the windows, we digitally printed the BGCRC logo on perforated window vinyl to complete the overall layout. The perforated material allows the drivers to have full visibility from the inside-out - a must when you are driving a bus full of kids around town!

It was so fun to see the excitement when the BGCRC representatives saw the first completed bus. Now we have three that are done and another six to do! These advertising wraps will make a huge impact on the road and also will create a lot of excitement for the lucky kids who get to ride in these beautiful and safe buses.

We are thrilled to work with BGCRC, and we can't wait to complete their fleet in this New Year!
