We met the wonderful owners, Beka and Tommy Nelms, of Sweeps and Ladders about six weeks ago when they sent us an inquiry about custom wraps for two of their company vehicles. At the time, they were interested in fire engine red wraps for their white work trucks. After meeting with them and presenting them with some proofs, their custom design was complete. This Project of the Week article features our design process and the installation of the first advertising wrap on their 2006 Ford E350 with a KUV body.
Sweeps and Ladders is a full-service chimney and dryer vent company serving Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin and surrounding areas. Their services include annual chimney inspections, chimney sweeping, chimney relining, chimney cap installations, dryer vent cleanings, and more. Their goal is to protect Middle Tennessee residents from fire accidents, and they are properly insured and certified to do so. (With colder temperatures, now is the perfect time to make sure you and your family are safe!)
To get things started, Beka and Tommy sent us some concept art that they liked and wanted us to use in their design. Our graphic designer created three different options for them, using the concept art they had provided. Some of the features they wanted were a stone/brick wall for the background and a photo of a sweet dog in front of a fireplace (one of which can be seen on the homepage of their website.) We also tried variations of background colors, including blue, charcoal, and - like the original request - fire engine red.
Part of our design process includes the option of meeting with our customers to really get a feel for what they want. We prefer doing this in person so that we can look at photos and designs together, discussing likes and dislikes along the way. When none of the original proofs were 'it', Beka came in to meet with our designer to get the perfect combination of details into the design.
Our designer came up with two final proofs - one with a stone background and one without. Beka and Tommy were thrilled, and they chose the one with the stone background. We think the final combination turned out pretty great too!
The completed wrap! The outdoor shadows hide the stone background in the photo, but the colors look fantastic together.
Once the final design was approved, we moved into production. We digitally printed the background design on high performance wrap vinyl with a protective UV gloss laminate. We installed the digitally printed background to the body of the vehicle first.
Installation in progress...
Once the background panels were installed, we completed the wrap with digitally printed, laminated, and contour cut decals and plotter cut lettering on the sides and the back.
Before and after. What a difference a full coverage advertising wrap makes!
The rear of the vehicle includes the Sweeps and Ladders logo and decals of their certifications, recognitions, and accreditations.
The wrap was installed in our climate-controlled shop, and we love how it turned out! Currently, we are completing the final design for an advertising wrap on their Dodge Ram 2500 truck with a KUV body. (We're really just tweaking the original design to fit the second vehicle.) Sweeps and Ladders will soon have a fleet of advertising vehicles!
