If you've driven on Sidco Drive in Nashville, TN, your eyes might have drawn towards the Oak Barrel building - an old warehouse that has been redeveloped into a retail and commercial office space.
Over the past few years, we've had the opportunity to fabricate and install individual weathering steel signs for tenants located in the aged architecture. Due to a great collaboration experience, we were contacted to create a double-sided monument sign that would showcase the identity of all the building's tenants.
Let’s take a look at how we “cleverly” designed the building’s existing brick pillar!
A major upgrade from the before and after of the monument!
The weathered look of the building is an eye-catcher on its own, but the beauty is inside of the building. The arched ceilings are as tall as 33' above the finished floor that is all crafted with wood and timber.
Our designer incorporated an arch into the top of the monument sign design to replicate the building's curved roof.
Did you know the old warehouse was renamed the Oak Barrel building because of its curved roof?
We cut individual base mounting panels with the arched top feature from an aluminum sheet with a water jet tool. We also cut, bent, and welded separate aluminum pieces for each tenant sign into "pan" shapes.
Consistency in your environmental branding can help you create familiarity with your customers.
The aluminum sign components were powder coated to replicate the color of the tenants' weathering steel signs.
We designed and laser-cut each "pan" into custom shapes with dimensional white acrylic. We also used high-performance vinyl for smaller features in certain logos.
The details are precisely cut to enhance each tenants' logo!
For the final assembly, we attached the large base panels to the brick monument with some spacers to "float" the sign of the pillar. The tenant panels were attached on top of the base panels in a way to conceal most of the attachment points to create a clean look.
“We appreciated the opportunity to create this monument sign for such an attractive redevelopment project in Nashville's market,” says Murray Johns, 12-Point SignWorks owner.
The monument wonderfully complements the historic building and the custom steel signs, which are developing the rustic look Pfeffer Torode Architecture wanted to achieve.
