We've had the privilege of working with Hunt Brothers Pizza (HBP) for a number of years. Recently, they asked us to assist them with a large project at their headquarters here in Nashville TN. This family-owned and operated business wanted to honor the story behind their success and showcase the folks who continue to help them grow. We, of course, were thrilled to jump in and help them with the interior displays for their office.
Our custom signage project for HBP consisted of three separate displays. HBP provided us with all of the photos, wording, and logo art that they wanted included. Our job was to take all of their information and turn it into three displays paying tribute to their history/timeline, DBH Distributing locations, and their annually given Founders Award.
For the first display, a timeline of HBP, we designed and fabricated a 14' wide x 48" tall background graphic. We digitally printed the color (with a fade) on adhesive wall vinyl with a matte laminate. The background created contrast with the gray wall paint and set the stage for the historical elements.
For the timeline, we printed the graphics on 1/4" thick clear acrylic panels, using our Vanguard VR5D flatbed UV digital printer. The graphics were printed on first (top) and second (back) surfaces of the panels. Each panel attached to the wall with six anodized aluminum standoffs. (On a side note, if you are interested in seeing how this process looks in person, come by our shop to see a sample.)
Above the timeline display, we attached the HBP brandmark and their name in dimensional acrylic letters. We highlight the details of that process when we talk about the next display below.
This photo shows the impressive timeline of events for HBP. The company is truly based on family values and Christian beliefs. Their system is working - they are the number one pizza brand in convenience stores across the United States. You can learn more about their story here.
The second display that we fabricated highlights the current HBP locations served by DBH Distributing. (Obviously, there are many more states that have locations serving Hunt Brothers Pizza since you can find it in more than 7,300 places in 28 states around the country.) Once again, we digitally printed the background color (with a fade) on adhesive wall vinyl with a matte laminate. The background print included various artwork that was printed on the material as well.
To the background, we added 1/4" thick clear acrylic panels with graphics printed on the second surface. The panels are attached to the wall with anodized aluminum standoffs. For the map in the center of the display, we digitally printed the state details on the second surface of 1/4" thick clear acrylic. Each state was router cut to create a 1/4" gap between the state borders upon installation.

The vinyl and the acrylic panels provide visual interest when looking at this display. The map and panels give it a very interactive feel.
Above the display, we added the HBP logo. The brandmark is a 14" x 7" laser cut logo comprised of three layers of 1/8" acrylic in the HBP brand colors (green, white, and red). Below the brandmark, we laser cut the DBH DISTRIBUTING letters out of 1/4" thick acrylic. (This is the same process used in the timeline display above.)
This close-up photo shows the how the logo and dimensional letters really stand out from the wall. The various depths of materials draw the eye in to each detail.
Our final display for HBP showcases the recipients of their annual Founders Award. Beginning in 2012, they have chosen a person who is:
- A role model.
- Respected by their team members and customers.
- Exceptional at their work and goes above and beyond the call of duty.
- A representative of the company values in the most positive way.
- A guiding example of what it means to be part of the HBP team.
These characteristics are featured in the acrylic center piece with the photo of the Hunt brothers, text, and HBP logo printed second surface. The 24" x 24" x .25" thick piece was installed on the wall with 1" aluminum standoffs.
For the side panels, we stained wooden backers and hand rubbed a satin poly finish to create the color and style requested by HBP. Each panel holds six acrylic pieces for showcasing the Founders Award recipients. For the winners, we printed their photos on the second surface of 1/8" thick non-glare clear acrylic. The remaining pieces are place holders that will be printed as the awards are given. The pieces are mounted to the wooden backers with 1/2" aluminum standoffs.
Although only four awards have been given, we fabricated two of the stained wood award panels to create balance on the wall.
HBP is truly proud of their success and even more proud of the people who have gotten them this far. We were honored to be a part of such a large project, highlighting their history and celebrating those who are keeping the company going.
