‘Tis the season for giving - and one of the best ways to give is by raising money for a great cause like the Salvation Army! We were honored to work with the Salvation Army of Nashville to design, print and install a beautiful custom wrap to bring awareness to the Red Kettle Challenge. Let’s take a look at this race-car inspired wrap!

This project started with a call from Misty Ratcliff, Development and Communications Manager, who asked if we could design, print and install a full coverage custom wrap for a 2019 MINI Countryman in record time for the holiday season. Of course, we were excited to take on the challenge!

Misty explained that MINI of Nashville had generously loaned the Countryman to the Salvation Army of Nashville, and it would be used through the end of the year to promote the Red Kettle Challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to ask companies, families, churches and other groups to commit to donating $1,000 each by ringing the famous Salvation Army bell in front of stores, through an online campaign or just simply by asking for donations.

The organization’s overall goal is to raise $575,000 through this campaign. The plan for the wrapped MINI is to bring awareness to the Red Kettle Challenge, as well as provide a “portable red kettle” to allow people to donate when they see the car at special events and as its driving around town.

To create the layout for this fun vehicle wrap, our designer created a custom design focusing on the famous red kettle. Oversized images of the kettle were placed on both sides of the wrap. Misty also asked for a race car look with stripes which were incorporated into the design. The Salvation Army logo was prominently displayed on the hood, roof and back door. Here’s a proof of the wrap that we provided Misty prior to printing and installation.

Once we received Misty’s enthusiastic thumbs up, we began the process of printing the wrap on high performance vinyl. We protected the vinyl with a high gloss laminate. We also printed the section of the wrap that covers the windows in perforated vinyl. Perforated window vinyl has tiny holes in it and is used to make graphics that appear opaque from the outside, but are still “see through” when sitting inside the vehicle.

Once the printing process was complete, our talented team installed the eye-catching wrap. The image below shows our guys installing perforated vinyl on the back window. As you can see in the picture below, a great deal of concentration and detail work were required to get items in the wrap lined up just right!

Here’s a closeup view of the hood. We love how this part of the wrap reinforces the reason for giving to the Salvation Army: Changing Lives!

About the Salvation Army:

The Salvation Army has been serving Nashville for over 125 years through much needed social services and programs. Today, the focus of the Nashville Salvation Army is to fight poverty and prevent homelessness in our community through a myriad of comprehensive programs designed to bring a holistic approach to the individual’s or family’s need.

Why does the Red Kettle Challenge ask for donations of $1,000 per group? For $1,000, one month of housing and food can be provided for a single man, woman or family experiencing homelessness in our community. Through the Salvation Army of Nashville’s Supportive Housing program, these individuals are actively working their way out of homelessness and into housing.
