When you know something is so delicious that you want to share it with the world, what do you do? You share it! That's how Red's All Natural got started. When Mike, the founder of Red's, tasted his wife's homemade burritos, he knew he discovered a winner. They use 100% all-natural ingredients to create everything from burritos to taquitos to enchiladas to burrito bowls (my personal fave!). And if you're wondering how they got the name, you can ask their furry family member...Red.
We originally met Mike when he wanted to brand a compact freezer that he was gifting to a loyal customer. We used the vector images of the Red's products to create decals for the sides and top of the freezer, and we packaged and shipped it to the customer for him. During that time, he mentioned the need for a dimensional logo sign for the Red's All Natural office. We discussed a few options, and then the holidays happened! Shortly after the New Year, Mike contacted us to start up the project again.
After a series of proofs, using a variety of shapes and materials, one design was approved. We began production with a 1/4" thick frosted acrylic panel cut to a custom shape. The roughly 48" W X 14.5" H panel serves as the backer for the sign and has six drilled holes for mounting the acrylic sign to the wall.
This photo kinda sorta shows the shape of the backer. The top follows the same curve as the arch of the Red's logo. In this photo, the sign was in our shop being prepped for pick-up.
The fabrication of the dimensional letters for the logo resulted in a fun optical illusion. We laser cut clear 1/2" non-glare acrylic into each individual piece. We repeated the same process, using clear 1/4" non-glare acrylic. We applied red vinyl to the second surface (or bottom side) of the 1/4" pieces, and then we adhered the 1/4" pieces onto the top of the 1/2" pieces to make 3/4" dimensional letters. Did you follow that?
Now for the optical illusion! When you look at the logo pieces straight on or from an angle, the red color really pops! It almost looks like it's been applied to the top or that the top 1/4" of acrylic is actually red. BUT...if you look at the letters directly from the side, they look clear. No red. Anywhere. It's pretty cool if you ask me! If you want to see if for yourself, we have a sample piece in the shop. Come by and check it out.
By laser cutting the acrylic, we were able to follow the irregular shapes of the Red's logo. This photo also shows the two acrylic layers. Do you see how the top layer looks like it's red?
Just another view of the letters. Again, the top layer looks completely red. It's hard to believe that it's really clear acrylic with just a thin layer of red vinyl beneath it.
The Red's logo has additional pieces that accent the letters, including an arch that follows the bottom curve of the name. We fabricated those pieces with the same process; however, we did not use the 1/2" acrylic on the bottom. Those accent pieces are only 1/4" thick and add to the dimensionality of the completed sign.
Here's another view of the logo pieces, showing how the red really pops! The photo also shows the arch and accent pieces that highlight the outside and inside of the letters.
We mounted the pieces onto the frosted acrylic backer and prepared the sign for installation. The folks at Red's did their own installation, and we supplied them with six 1" diameter silver aluminum standoffs. We couldn't wait to see the sign installed, and we just got some photos this week!
Here is the sign installed and doing its job branding the space at the Red's All Natural office. Interested in trying some of their products? Check the freezer section of most of our local grocery stores. You also can check out their store locator, but I've found their products in more than just the stores listed (including Kroger and Sprouts here in Franklin!).
We love how this sign turned out. We took very simple components and put them together into something extremely striking and noticeable. Looking for your own logo sign? Let us know how we can help! We work with customers from coast to coast and offer installation services for those in the Middle Tennessee area. You can reach us at (615) 595-6564 or by clicking on the link below.
