As a shop that specializes in custom branded interiors, we enjoy working on unique projects using a variety of materials, including one of our favorites: wood. This versatile material is a popular choice for dimensional signage because it provides a warm, welcoming feeling. Let’s take a look at the beautiful dimensional wood signs we created to hang in neighborhood sales offices for The Jones Company.

The Jones Company, a Nashville area home builder with more than 90 years of experience, has a reputation for building homes that are innovative, well-designed, and solidly constructed. They take great pride in and carefully select the neighborhoods where they build their new homes. Currently, they have homes available in neighborhoods in College Grove, Franklin, Spring Hill, Mt. Juliet, Nolensville, Fairview, Lebanon, Murfreesboro and Nashville, TN.

To create the layouts for the custom wood signs, we worked with the director of marketing for The Jones Company. She provided the artwork and asked that we create the custom signs using wood. Our designer suggested the signs be fabricated using birch wood, which provides a beautiful wood grain and also absorbs stain well. He prepared the artwork and created a proof so that the final signage could be clearly visualised. 

Our designer provided this proof to the director of marketing at The Jones Company so she could visualize the fabricated dimensional sign. We provide similar proofs to all of our custom sign clients.

Once we received approval, we began work on fabrication. To create the backers for the 22” x 22” signs, we used ½” thick blond birch. We applied stain and satin clear coat to the backers to create a beautiful, protected finish. We laser cut the letters and brandmarks out of ¼” thick blond birch. The laser cutter slightly charred the edges of the wood along the cut lines, so this added a nice dimensional effect. The letters and brandmarks were then adhered to the backers.

A total of four custom, dimensional wood signs were fabricated, including the general logo sign (pictured above) and three others for neighborhoods which are currently under construction. Here are the neighborhood signs:

Baird Farms

The Woods at Burberry Glen

The Woods at Burberry Glen is located in historic Nolensville, TN and is the builder’s newest community in Williamson County. This neighborhood is located in a lush setting, with proposed amenities that include walking trails, landscaped common areas, cobblestone roundabouts, sidewalks, and a proposed playground. Here are photos of the custom sign for this community up close, and a view of the sign in the neighborhood’s sales office.

Brooksbank Estates

Brooksbank Estates offers beautiful manor homes in Nolensville, TN. This neighborhood has lots of beautiful trees, rolling hills and basement home sites. Features include open floor plans with plenty of space.

We created a logo sign for this neighborhood, as well as several smaller signs with sayings and words such as “Love Where You Live,” “Live,” “Grow,” and “Play.” The smaller signs are displayed alongside photos in the sales office.
