We've been helping Simpson Property Group brand two locations in Nashville since mid-2016. Between SkyHouse Nashville and the 2700 Charlotte Avenue Apartments, we've fabricated and installed signage for balconies, parking garages, conference rooms, sidewalks, windows, and more. For this recent project, we created and installed directional signage for the 2700 Charlotte Ave Leasing Office.
While most vinyl signage is installed - either directly or indirectly - onto smooth surfaces, these graphics required a bit more elbow grease. The signage was needed to direct potential resident traffic through the garage and to the leasing office. We used a special 'rough wall' vinyl that works with the textured surfaces on the interior and exterior of the building.
To create the signage, we used the Simpson Property Group style guide, which features all of the logos, colors, lettering, and information that we need for each of their specific projects. After digitally printing the designs on the durable vinyl, we added a protective UV laminate and contour cut the material to the desired shapes.
We applied the material with a high temperature heat gun and foam roller. Applied correctly, this conformable vinyl can be mistaken for paint. It can be applied to both sealed and unsealed surfaces, and it doesn't leave any residue when removed. (However, it could remove some paint if applied to a painted surface.)
The masonry graphics were applied on the exterior of the building, giving the appearance of painted brick.
These graphics were applied to the concrete wall inside of the garage, and the arrows indicate which direction to go for the leasing office.
We also fabricated an interior hanging sign for the garage to assist potential residents in finding the leasing office. We digitally printed the vinyl and added a protective UV laminate. We applied the lettering to a 1/8" thick piece of ACP. The panel was screwed into an overhead ceiling truss with the appropriate fasteners.
Our installers ensured that the clearance between the bottom of the panel and the floor was a minimum of 7' 6" - the same height as the 'headache bar' at the garage entrance.
