The Predicament: Johnathan Kayne, a cutting edge brand for women's dresses and shoes, needed to add their company wordmark to their showroom at the AmericasMart in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Solution: In keeping with their black and gold brand colors, we created a dimensional sign that shines on the wall of their showroom space. Here's how it happened...

After just a quick peek at the Johnathan Kayne website, you can feel the elegance of the brand. Explore a little more, and you can read about their mission and company creed. Johnathan Kayne focuses on fashion, innovation, fun and quality. They believe that everything they make and everything they do must be the best it possibly can be. Now that sounds like a product to stand by! 

Although Nashville is the hometown for Johnathan Kayne (the business AND the actual person!), their products can be found worldwide. When they needed a sign for their Atlanta showroom, they reached out to us to create something special for them. 

We took their wordmark logo and created a dimensional sign out of 3/8" thick laser cut acrylic. To the black acrylic, we bonded a rowmark simulated brushed gold metal face. Rowmark is sheet plastic that is suitable for laser or rotary engraving and comes in a variety of colors, including gorgeous simulated metal colors. For this project, we used a brushed metal rowmark to coordinate with the brand colors and add to the glamorous and elegant look.

Because of the size of the sign - eight feet wide by almost four feet tall - we needed to add breaks in the material for stability. Longer pieces that don't have a lot of width can become fragile during transportation and installation, and the designed separations alleviate the possibility of creating any unintentional breaks. You can see the marks for the intentional breaks in the proof above. 

Although we designed and fabricated the sign, we did not install it in the Atlanta showroom. This was done by a representative for Johnathan Kayne. (Yes, you can install a sign like this!) We sent a template along with the completed sign to assist him with positioning it on the wall. The sign was fastened to the wall using very high bond (VHB) adhesive tabs. HINT: We recommend, when using the VHB tabs, that the wall is not painted with a low-VOC or zero-VOC paint, which can cause adhesion problems. 

According to Johnathan Kayne, the installation was "easy" and took around 45 minutes. Looks like they have some nice installation skills!

The brushed gold looks beautiful against the black paint on the showroom wall! They did notice that the sign shines even more without direct light. :)

If you want to see the sign in person, you may be out of luck. Sorry! AmericasMart is one of the world's largest permanent wholesale trade centers. In order to visit Johnathan Kayne at this location, you need to be an employee or guest of a registered business. (If you do get to go, they are in Building 3 on the 10th Floor!)

Luckily, you don't have to be authorized to view the company's beautiful creations. You can visit their website and search for a retailer close to you.
