The historic Sawtooth building is one of the most unique and memorable structures in the Wedgewood area of Nashville, TN. Built in the early 1900s, the old factory recently underwent a complete transformation. We were hired by Holladay Properties to fabricate one-of-a-kind signage designed by McCoy Designs for the iconic building. This project included custom directory signs, suite ID signs and more. Let’s take a closer look!

This directory sign is as unique and beautiful as the building itself!

We always enjoy watching old buildings find new life. That’s exactly what happened when Holladay Properties converted the 40,000 square ft iconic building on Lindell Avenue into state of the art office space a few years ago. The project earned an Excellence in Development Award by the Urban Land Institute’s Nashville District Council and a Preservation Award from the Metropolitan Historical Commission. 

We were hired to fabricate and install the following signage elements for the Sawtooth building:

Directory Signs

We fabricated two custom 36” x 36.5” aluminum directory signs with channeled bases. We gave the wood pieces an aged, charred look by slightly burning the faces. We then printed the Sawtooth logo, company names and suite numbers in white ink directly onto the individual ¾” thick wood pieces using our flatbed printer. We might be a little biased, but we love this look!

Suite ID Signs

We also fabricated suite ID blade signs for the building’s tenants. These 1.5’ x 1.25’ double-sided signs were constructed from custom painted aluminum to complement the directory signage. We used white vinyl for the company logos and white laser cut acrylic for the suite numbers to add a dimensional look.

Blade signs offer the perfect solution for a long hallway of tenants. Visitors can easily find the business they're looking for!

As you can see, the new custom directory signs and suite ID signs were a very nice addition to the Sawtooth building. In addition to the signs shown above, we also fabricated restroom signage and building numbers.
