Last week, we featured the incredible hanging airplane that we fabricated and installed for Ascend Federal Credit Union. It's on display in the beautiful entrance of their new facility in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. As we mentioned in our other post, the dimensional piece of art is just part of the branding project we've been working on at that location. This Project of the Week highlights some of our other tasks at that branch, including a brand panel, dimensional letters, a fabric window display, and a wall mural.
We built an architectural brand panel that featured the Ascend FCU combination mark logo and adapted it to be displayed on a curved wall in the facility. To create the panel, we used a sheet of Lexan (a transparent and extremely strong polycarbonate) that was back-painted in their brand color. We mounted the Lexan panel to the wall with evenly placed standoffs. To the panel, we attached laser-cut acrylic letters with a brushed metal face to create the Ascend FCU logo. The edges of the laser-cut acrylic were painted with metallic silver to complete the look.
You would think this brand panel would be difficult to install on a curved wall, but we worked some magic to make it happen without any gaps or awkward areas.
We fabricated dimensional letters for two areas of the facility. The PASSport letter set is made from 1/4" thick white acrylic letters with a matte finish. We adhered the letters to a back-painted glass wall that already had been installed. The glass wall and acrylic letters frame the video teller machines that allow customers to interact with live bank representatives during their transactions. Quite sophisticated!
If you haven't used the PASSport system, you should stop by the facility and give it a try.
The second set of dimensional letters is part of a charity display in the facility. The 1/4" thick laser-cut letters are mounted to a small display wall, featuring a service opportunity to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County. The acrylic letters spelling out 'PEOPLE' were painted to match the Ascend FCU brand color. The letters for 'HELPING' were laser-cut from brushed aluminum.
We love that Ascend FCU gives back to the community.
You can find the dimensional letters above at the end of a large window display in the facility. The display, which features graphics on both sides, is a silicone edge graphics (SEG) display system. This system is made up of dye-sublimated graphics on fabric with a SEG gasket sewn along the edges. The edges insert into channels on a SEG frame, which produces a tight and elegant display. (We should mention that this display is easy to assemble and change out with future graphics!)
This photo highlights three different projects we installed at Ascend FCU! You can see the fabric window display (or SEG display system) on the left, the brand panel on the right, and the dimensional letters for the charity display in between the two.
This photo, courtesy of Google Plus, shows the interior of another Ascend FCU branch location in the Nashville area. The facility has a similar brand panel and fabric window display as the Murfreesboro location. The 'WHAT if...' graphic shows the interior side of the fabric window display (or SEG display system) that we featured in the photo above this one.
The wall mural that we created for this location was a true labor of love. (It took some labor, and we love how it turned out!) We digitally printed the graphics onto the material, which has a canvas-like texture. After the ink had time to cure, we coated the material with a protective top coat. The wall covering was installed at the facility just like wallpaper. With the overhead lighting, this window feature truly catches the eye as customers approach the building.
You can't miss this wall mural when you visit this location.
As we've stated before, Ascend FCU really knows how to strengthen their brand in their financial centers and in the community! We truly enjoy our partnership with them. I know it sounds crazy, but there are still more projects we've worked on at this Murfreesboro location. Stay tuned...
