If you love southern cooking as much as we do, then you’ll enjoy learning about one of our most recent projects. We were honored to work with Cracker Barrel headquarters in Lebanon, TN to create the restaurant’s first fleet of catering van wraps. Here’s how this project went from concept to design and then to a large-scale distribution and installation in cities across the U.S.!

This project came to us as a referral from our good friends at Nissan of Cool Springs (NCS). We have designed, printed and installed wraps and vehicle graphics for NCS and its customers for several years now. When we first heard about Cracker Barrel’s plans for a new vehicle wrap for their fleet of catering vans, we thought the rollout would only be regional. As the project grew in scope, we learned that the wraps would be distributed to many cities nationwide. Needless to say, we were excited to take on this project!

To create the wrap design for the Nissan NV200 cargo vans, our designer worked closely with Cracker Barrel’s marketing department. The graphics in the wrap included the trademark blue tablecloth, Cracker Barrel logo, cast iron pan, website, and other text in approved company fonts and brand colors.

Two initial “prototype” designs were created and installed on a few local vans during a trial run. Although the initial wraps looked great, our designer and the team at Cracker Barrel decided the design would look better with more dimension. Our designer added curves to the partial vinyl wrap on the sides of the van wrap, as well as shadows to make the vinyl appear as if it’s blowing in the wind. This final design won the approval of the team at Cracker Barrel, and it was full steam ahead on production!

Our production team worked hard to ensure every piece of vinyl printed for Cracker Barrel met our high standards for quality and color consistency.

To fabricate the van wraps and decals, we printed the graphics on high performance vinyl using one of our wide format printers. During the printing process, we worked diligently to ensure the colors in each piece of vinyl were consistent with Cracker Barrel’s brand colors. After the digital graphics were printed, we applied laminate to the vinyl to enhance the colors and add protection from UV rays and scratches for many years to come. The final step in production was to cut out the individual pieces of the partial wrap and vehicle graphics using our digital flatbed cutter. Then it was time for installation!

Our installers developed a time efficient way to apply the vinyl wraps, which they carefully documented.

In addition to the installers in our shop, we also hired other professional wrap companies to install the vinyl on vans across the U.S. This required finding and pre-qualifying each of the companies to make sure that they would use the same attention to detail and follow the same steps we used for the installations.

Our production manager created a detailed step-by-step set of instructions with key reference dimensions to send to each of the wrap installers in order to maintain consistency across the fleet. Vans were wrapped in cities across the country. Here are photos of two newly wrapped vans taken in sunny Ft. Myers, Florida and just outside snowy Cincinnati, OH.

We’re extremely proud of how Cracker Barrel’s fleet wraps turned out. We love their new look! It took a lot of time and attention to detail to work with so many remote installers, but the results were well worth the effort.
