We enjoy working with small businesses in and around Middle Tennessee. There’s nothing like the joy of small business owners when they see their new custom signage for the first time! We recently had the pleasure of working with Kelly Kanski, owner of the Franklin Wheelhouse in Franklin, to fabricate her new custom rebranding signage. And we believe the results are inspiring!
Kelly is a personal trainer with a passion for helping people live their best lives through custom-tailored personal fitness. She began her small business in 2013 under the name Form Fitness. After several years, she realized that her method of training had evolved to a more integrated approach, involving the connection of the body and mind. Out of this concept, her new business name, Franklin Wheelhouse, was born.
In addition to changing her training approach, Kelly decided it was time to rebrand her company with new business signs. We had worked with Kelly back in 2013 on her Form Fitness signage, and she was happy with the way the signs turned out. However, she was ready to move on to a new business name and logo that more closely matched her business’s mission.
“As a small business owner, I had a small budget and only one shot to get this right,” Kelly said. “I researched local vendors, and found that 12-Point SignWorks has the attention to quality I was looking for. They seem to care more about the craft and not just the production. They’re also great people to work with, and that really matters!”
Large Outdoor Dimensional Sign:
The largest sign Kelly requested was the outdoor dimensional logo sign that now hangs over the front entrance to her gym. The sign needed to fit within the framework of the older, illuminated sign box (which contained the old Form Fitness sign.) However, Kelly didn’t want to purchase a similar sign. She explained her needs, and we were able to come up with an affordable solution.
Kelly provided the dimensions and logo for the new business sign to our graphic designer. She also provided the previously used large acrylic panel for us to work with and to keep costs at a minimum. We covered the acrylic panel in new satin black vinyl to give it a fresh look.
To create the logo, we applied outdoor quality metallic copper cast vinyl to the top surface of a separate ¼” black acrylic panel and laser cut the letters and brandmark pieces from the panel. We applied the letters and brandmark pieces to the surface of the black sign panel using a template. The combination of the copper pieces and the black vinyl created a classy, dimensional effect which clearly depicts the new Franklin Wheelhouse company brand.
Check out the dimension and shine created by the 1/4" black acrylic and copper metallic vinyl on this beautiful custom sign!
We reused the large acrylic panel from Kelly's old Form Fitness sign (top) to make the new Franklin Wheelhouse dimensional logo sign (bottom). We love the new look!
Exterior Sign for the Building Directory:
We also created a smaller exterior sign to incorporate into the Grassland Shopping Center’s illuminated building directory, which is located near the main road. The purpose of the shopping center’s directory sign is to show the names of all the businesses located within the building.
For this custom sign, we reverse plotter cut the Franklin Wheelhouse lettering and brandmark out of satin black vinyl. We applied the black vinyl to white acrylic. We then added the metallic cast vinyl lettering and brandmark into the design using a template. This left an outline (of exposed white), which allows light to shine around the letters and brandmark to make the sign really pop at night.
This custom business sign allows light to shine through the logo, which makes the lettering and brandmark really stand out at night!
Window Decals:
To complete the rebranding project, we created a copper vinyl window decal which was adhered first surface to the Franklin Wheelhouse’s front glass door. The decal includes the business’s logo, phone number and web address. This is a perfect way for Kelly to let people know more information about her gym during non-business hours since it is located in a busy shopping area.
The new copper window decal contains information helpful to anyone who visits the Franklin Wheelhouse after business hours.
Now that Kelly has rebranded, she feels her new signage, (as well as her new website), better represents her vision for the future of Franklin Wheelhouse. She was ready to make the change, and we were happy to help bring her vision into reality!
