We've been part of the growth of this Nashville icon since the very beginning, and we couldn't be happier! It all started in 2012 when we partnered with Retro Sno to develop an advertising wrap design for their very first food truck. Two years later, in 2014, we assisted them with their second food truck. Here we are in 2016, and we recently finished the third truck in their fleet. We loved seeing this new truck come together (literally!), and we are so happy to be a part of Retro Sno's continued growth and success.
The process for this newest truck was a little different than the other two. The past trucks have been painted a base color of dark teal and then wrapped with the lighter teal stripes, logos and graphics. For this truck, we had a much shorter period of time to work with, and a fresh coat of paint wasn't an option because it would not have enough time to cure. The solution: We took the design and created a full coverage layout that incorporated both colors. No paint required.
When the truck arrived, it looked nothing like what it does now! Not only was it the wrong color on the outside, the interior workings that make it a Retro Sno food truck weren't installed. To ensure the truck was ready to roll in time for July 4th weekend, all of the updates were done in the comforts of our own shop! While we prepped the outside, Retro Sno had their guy come and work on the interior. (I think he enjoyed the temperature controlled shop space as much as we do!)
The pre-wrap photo. You can see the images left on the truck from the leftover adhesive that remained after the previous graphics were removed. We cleaned all of that off prior to installing the new wrap.
We tweaked the design to make it a full coverage wrap with white cut vinyl and printed graphics. After we had the layout made and approved, we printed sample vinyl pieces to color match the teal shades to the previous two trucks. With the colors matched, we digitally printed the design on high performance wrap vinyl with a protective UV gloss laminate.
Hot stripes - right off the press!
We installed the custom wrap in sections, beginning with the trim around the roof and the edges of the doors and windows. Once those were done, we installed the wrap on the rest of the truck. This portion of the wrap covered the painted surfaces with the signature stripes and Retro Sno logo.
To the full coverage wrap, we added white cut vinyl for accent stripes and contact information and printed vinyl graphics of adorable snoballs. We reinforced the edges and trimmed out any excess vinyl, and truck #3 was complete!

This is the most important side - where orders are taken and treats are served!

The wrap wouldn't be complete without the signature printed vinyl snoballs.

We were thrilled to have the truck finished just in time for July 4th weekend. From the Retro Sno Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages, we know the trucks stayed busy all weekend! With the other two trucks named "Razz" and "tres", we are anxious to hear the name for this new one. Any guesses?
We seem to be on a biennial trend with the Retro Sno food truck wraps, so we hope to see them again by 2018 (if not sooner)! If you haven't had one of their delicious shaved ice snoballs with handmade syrups, you are missing out. Check out their calendar to see when they will be parked at a location near you. You won't regret it!
