New movie. New wrap. You may remember back in 2012 when we wrapped a Toyota Prius for a client who was promoting his fan film Jurassic Park Origins. Fast forward three years to an even bigger movie release. How big, you ask? So big that it broke box office records during its opening weekend, making over $500 million worldwide. The opening weekend was so huge that Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios (previous record holder for the 2012 release of The Avengers) sent out the following tweet: "Marvel Studios congratulates Jurassic World on being the new opening-weekend king!" This film continues to reign supreme, holding the numero uno spot worldwide for two weekends in a row!
Yep, we actually wrapped both of those vehicles! We installed the partial wrap on this Jeep Wrangler in 2013. Still looks good!
In preparation for this epic movie release, the same client from 2012 came back to us with a new request. He wanted a custom wrap to pay homage to the original Jurassic Park movie of 1993. So what did he do? He purchased a 1993 Ford Explorer, of course! Then he asked us to install an advertising wrap for that Explorer.
As you can see, our client went above and beyond with his Explorer. It also is off-road-equipped to look even more authentic!
Our client belongs to a forum that had the design for the vehicle with copyright permissions. They supplied it to us, and we adapted it to our template and scaled it for print. We performed some test prints for color matching until the files were production ready.
We digitally printed the wrap on Avery MPI 1005 vinyl with an Avery DOL 1060 overlaminate. The Avery MPI 1005, which is a premium quality material, is commonly used for vehicle graphics and wraps. The Avery DOL 1060 (another premium material) offers protection from scratches while enhancing the colors in the design. This overlaminate is UV, temperature and humidity resistant, which provides extra protection for the ultra colorful graphics.
Here are some shots from our shop as we prepared for the installation.
Once we had the Explorer in our shop, we prepped it for the installation. This installation was a little different for us because we had some extra "eyes" on us the entire time! Our client set-up a variety of GoPro cameras in our shop to capture every moment of the wrap coming together. You can catch a glimpse of the process in this really cool video below. (FYI: We don't really work at this extreme speed...usually!)
We love working on theme car wraps like this one! You can't help but get into the spirit of the movie or event that the wrap replicates. Although we can't replicate the same one, we can always create something with a similar WOW factor. Contact us today at 615-595-6564 or at the link below to get started!
