TITAN XD Gets Radical New Truck Wrap for the Chicago Auto Show

Posted on February 26, 2018 | Posted by 12-Point SignWorks

Lifted trucks just look cool. Regardless of whether the truck ever drives off road or not, owners love the look. Nissan is now offering a new factory-authorized suspension lift kit for select models of TITAN and TITAN XD trucks. To showcase the new lift kit, we worked with Nissan North America (NNA) to design and install a radical new truck wrap on a lifted TITAN XD for the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. This custom wrap’s striking dimensional features are worth taking a closer look!

To begin this project, the live events specialist from Nissan NA drove the 2017 TITAN XD, with the new lift kit installed, to our shop here in Franklin, TN (just down the road from Nissan NA’s headquarters.) This truck looked great in magnetic black, but we were excited to see how it would look with an amazing vehicle wrap installed! To get this project started, we took photos of the front, back and both sides of the truck.

We collaborated with Nissan to develop the wrap’s design concept. When our designer saw Nissan’s super cool idea for the “webbed” look, he was excited to take it to the next level! He wanted to give the truck wrap a dimensional (layered) look, so he incorporated several different vinyl materials into the design. He mocked up some proof samples and sent them to Nissan for approval. Nissan quickly gave us the thumbs up, and then it was time for the rest of our team to get to work!

Here are the materials that were included in the TITAN XD custom wrap:

Full coverage printed vehicle wrap with a satin finish

We created the base of the design by printing the full coverage wrap on high-quality vinyl material with a UV protected satin laminate finish. To ensure the truck wrap had a complete, professional look, we removed the chrome TITAN XD badges and Nissan emblems, taillights, fender flares, and large aluminum front bumper. We then applied the full-coverage wrap on the truck. The wrap design had a gradient look with varying degrees of black and gray throughout. In some lighting, the wrap almost looked metallic.

Matte black “webbed” stripes

Our talented installers then strategically applied matte black stripes in a web pattern in various locations on the satin base wrap. The contrast between the lighter full coverage satin wrap and the solid matte black stripes on top added a layered look.

TITAN Logos and “LIFTED” Lettering

We contour cut and installed TITAN logos in a red gloss metallic vinyl material on both sides of the truck, as well as the hood and tailgate. We then contour cut and applied TITAN logos in brushed titanium vinyl on top of the red gloss vinyl material. The titanium logos were smaller than the red logos, so this created a red outline on each logo. We also applied the word “LIFTED” with the TITAN emblem replacing the “T” in white vinyl above each titanium and red logo.

Once all the layers of vinyl material were applied, we reinstalled the chrome badges and emblems, taillights, fender flares, and front bumper. The completed custom truck wrap was truly impressive to look at, even just sitting in our shop! We were honored that Nissan gave us the opportunity to showcase the TITAN XD truck and new lift kit in such a cool way.

We wrapped a 2016 Nissan TITAN XD for the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, and installed three Winter Warrior custom wraps on a Nissan Pathfinder, Rogue and Murano for the 2016 Chicago Auto Show.
