Due to a few changes in the Cool Springs AutoMall group, the existing monument sign at the intersection of Baker's Bridge Road and Market Exchange Court needed an update. We kept the existing stacked limestone and exterior masonry intact but made some major changes to the details of the double-sided sign.
To start the project, we removed the lettering and brand logos from both sides of the original monument sign. We refaced the original 8' x 4' stucco-like areas with new cultured stone. There were a number of steps required to ensure that the cultured stone would stay in place, including installing a protective moisture barrier and mortar layer.
After the removal of the old lettering and brand logos (left), we applied a moisture barrier and layer of mortar (middle) to both signs of the framework of the sign. This allowed us to reface the sign with beautiful cultured stone (right).
We fabricated the new lettering and brand logos from 1/4" thick flat cut aluminum. The aluminum letters were finished in anodized black, and the aluminum bars (above and below Cool Springs AutoMall) and brand logos were finished in anodized clear.
We created appliques for the three flat cut brand logos out of digitally printed graphics with a protective UV laminate. The printed graphics were designed to simulate the look of the dimensional metallic contoured surfaces of the actual brand logos.
The lettering and logos were stud-mounted into the cultured stone faces on both sides of the monument signs. Although the Infiniti, Hyundai and Nissan logos and the bottom bar give off a golden hue, that is actually just caused by the reflection on the aluminum and the printed graphics. The actual colors can be seen in the photos below.
The final step in completing the updated sign was to add stacked limestone to the top of the structure to match the surrounding limestone.
From this angle, the true colors for the aluminum pieces can be seen; however, they do take on various colors and metallic sheens at different angles.
